Had a wonderful trip to the Upper last week. Other than lots of wind and one cold day it couldn't have been better. I didn't top last years catch of 18" but we came real close with some. We kept these to eat and were they ever tasty.:Dhttp://www.michigan-sportsman.com/photopost/data/525/medium/dsc00893_2_brook_trout.jpg

Why not keep the smaller ones and let the large ones which lay more eggs reproduce? If you feel the need to keep trout use some discretion. PS trout at krogers is much less expensive(to your pocketbook, and michigan resources).

When you get a fishing license you have the right to harvest fish to eat. I prefer to let go 99% of my fish I catch but that is what I prefer to do. Don't come in here and tell someone what they can or cannot do with their catch. I saw another of your recent posts and it had similar tone.

Nice fish. If you want to keep em to eat so be it. Your choice. If you want to release them, that is your choice too. As long as they don't go to waste. Cheers.

That is a fine day fishing. you should be congratulated rather than ridiculed, some find it difficult to keep the jealousy to themselves. Keep up the good work.

Bucketmouth,
These were fish taken over a week. Many fish this size and larger were thrown back. If we kept every fish we took there would have been 50 fish in this photo plus the ones we threw back. I do my part on catch and release more so than most. When it comes to steelies salmon and big browns I throw them all back, but thanks for your concern.

Congrats Oaks. I'm on my way to the UP today to hit the brookies for the last 2 days of the season. I sure hope I can get into fish like the ones in your photo. It's refreshing to see others confront these intrusive C&R police who seem to think that everyone has to fish according to their ethics. I monitor a number of fishing sites, and unfortunately this kind of occurrence is not uncommon. Most of the C&R extremists who think that each and every fish should be released refuse to acknowledge biological facts that clearly prove that harvesting some fish is a practice of good conservation.

Great catch of specs! Wish I could get up there and fish for some. Still trying to get a salmon trip in down here. Good job, and those are some great eating. I love eating stream trout every chance I get.:D

Its also cheaper to buy meat than hunt, but where's the fun in that. Seeing your from Idaho, you probobly don't know much about Mich. fish, it would be best to keep negative comments to yourself.

Did a mess of brookies that large come from a stream or a lake? I'm not asking you to tell me where you caught he fish, I just want to be able to believe that streams can hold that many large fish! :)

Nice catch, either way!
