Wow - been hanging out on the hunting side for years and never knew this part of the forum existed. This is great. I built this offset as a winter project this year and have been doing my best to keep people full of slow cooked meat all summer. Here are some pics of my home brew cooker made from a few scraps laying around the shop.
with pics of my first ribs, bird and brisket

Looks like some pretty good craftsmanship for a homebrew-Q. I've got a welder and some basic fabricating experience, but it looks like some parts (door flange) need a bender/press and a plasma cutter to do. I don't have either one one of those.:( Im stuck with my Brinkmann til I come up with a design I can handle.
Low & slow, thats how its done! (Real BBQ anyway, everybody else is just grillin')

looks like a first class job. Very nice. You must be very proud. i know I would be if I created it myself. The food looks awesome too.
Thanks for showing off your new smoker and the results.;)

AJ - If you have a welder and desire you could do it. Up close mine is far from perfect but I am pleased. Not sure what was more fun - the build or the cooking. If any of you know of BBQ comps in michigan post them here. I doubt I would win anything but it sure would be fun to hang out all day with the smoker going. My buddy owns a fabrication company so I do have access to all the tools needed but if I only had a welder and a torch I could have done it. If you do not have the torch I know some people have made all their cuts with an angle grinder and cut of wheels. As far as the door I just flexed the flange into place with C-Clamps, no press needed. I did need the fork truck to move things around though - that piece of pipe is 95lbs per foot! I only paid for the fenders, trailer jack and coupler - everything else was scrap laying around the fab shop yard. I am thinking of building a smaller cooker that will mount onto a rease hitch for tailgating. Always need a good winter project. Although I have become obsessed recently with the forge and have been making knives for all my friends. So much to do - so little time.

I don't know how I missed this thread, but that is a sweet unit! Quite the smoke ring on the brisket!
