If you shot a ncie buck, would you care about entering it in the P&Y or Boone record books?
Me? I don't care about record books. The only way I'd care is if I shot an absolutely HUGE buck in my area. Only then would I look into having it scored for entry into a county or possibly state record book. Other than that, shoot it, stuff it, eat it and hang it on the wall.

I said yes for reasons you may not have considered.
The record books are a snap shot of what areas of the world are being well managed based on number of entries, era of entries, etc.
I have one in CBM and am proud to have take one worthy of the books.
And what the heck, it's fun!

I voted yes. I, along with most hunters I believe, have an infactuation with big antlers. Something about them just gets our blood boiling. I look forward to one day entering a buck into the P&Y books or even CBM. It's like a milestone in a hunting career, at least for me.

Yep, I with QDMAMAN and Gunfun13. I had a goal of taking a P&Y qualifying animal and I did that and now my goal is to take one that will qualify for the B&C record book. Probably won't happen but....?? I don't know for sure if I'll ever enter another in P&Y if I'm fortunate enough to kill another qualifier now that I met that goal, but I won't know until that time comes I guess. I'm not looking to fill pages upon pages with my name thats for sure, but one time in each would be a nice bonus trophy. To each their own though.

I have no desire to personally, but I am glad others do, because I enjoy looking at them, hearing about them and seeing pictures of ones that do.

Have no desire to be in a record book.
I think it has alot to do with where you hunt if you have a chance at making
"The book". Where I hunt there just aren't very many book bucks. I took a nice nine point seven years ago and I am every bit as proud of that buck as one that would have scored a few more points and made the book.
Nothing wrong with the records but they just don't mean all that much. I'm also proud of the nice spike I got a couple years back too.

HA! That's precisely why I "won't" enter one.. I have one that could go in the CBM, but I'd have to tell 'em where I shot it. I ain't gonna do that.

I like to see some of the bigger bucks that come out of particular areas, but personally it's not remotely related to why I hunt.
Getting a monster buck truly isn't that important to me and it's certainly not why I hunt. In fact, the way that I hunt is mostly for quantity (sightings, not kills), not quality, so I'm further reducing my chances of scoring on a P&Y buck. But I'm sure having one heck of a lot of fun! There's absolutley nothing wrong in focusing on a record buck. My hunting tactics now are different/better than they used to be and perhaps when I pass through this stage I'll become more interested in the book and change my hunting tactics. Now, if I lucked into a monster would I have it scored? In a heartbeat!

Im addicted to going after big racked / big bodied mature bucks, and Ive been lucky enough to shoot a couple that are on my wall, but while I scored them myself just to see what they were, I never had them officially scored or entered in the books. So while I dont care if my name is listed somewhere, I love going after the big boy as much as anyone.

I have voted no.
As you will see in my pic I have taken a crappie and a turkey that would both put my name in the books, But what does that get ya. Not much.
I get more satisfaction just knowing that I have done it and I have pics to prove what I have done.

I have only about 15 in the books so NO I dont like putting them in the books. ;):p:)
I personally feel I owe it to the animal, as well as like to give my county some recognition. I like to post the certificates right next to the buck I killed. To each his own but I will put as many in as I see fit.. I have two more I could put in this year but they are still at the taxidermist.

I voted yes...only because i like to look at them. I'd love to have a shot at a "book buck" some day (last years may have been close) Not sure if i'd enter it though. Never was much for public recognition.

Unless it was a true monster I doubt Id enter it......It would have to be like top ten or so......

Yes, but only because I think Michigan should have way more red counties on the record book maps.:rant::rant:.........it COULD be so much better.

No I never have and never will it's just not something I feel a need to do. I do feel the trophy books provide some good info though.

Refreshingly honest and a picture into why we have the population dilema that we have.;)
Thanks JME.

I do care about size but not about record books. I won't shoot a buck that I won't mount but score really isn't what I'm considering. I do measure bucks I take out of curiosity. It gives me a point of reference when I see pictures and scores of deer taken by other hunters. Entering one in a book though really doesn't interest me.
