Manual grinder -motor size

have one of the size 32 manual grinders - came with a large wheel ready for a V-belt.

Any experience with motor size, HP range and cover types? Just doing a few deer a year - nothing to expensive, yet won't bog down and easy to buy from say Grainger

I use a 1/2 hp motor with an 1 1/2in pulley on it. You want to keep the speed down, slow is good, fast is not only not good, but extremely dangerous. Wven with the slower speed that I have, it is a scary thought if ya got your finger or hand caught in it. But it sure will grind a mess of meat in a hurry.

Agreed, fast and fingers taste bad.......would you know the RPM of the 1/2HP motor you have, or possibly the brand or manufacturer model number? I need to order a new motor from a grainger or like
