The location of the wound makes me wonder if the conversation started out, "Ok scumbag I'm going to count to three then?"

Personally,
I think the guy DESERVED IT !!!
I don't care that is was "just a car". If you want to take something that DOESN'T BELONG TO YOU, you'd better be ready to accept the consequences. He gambled and LOST. BIG TIME.
I hope he rots in hell, which is EXACTLY where he belongs.
Theives are DIRTBAGS that deserve to pay a BIG price if they get caught. Maybe if more people were afraid for their lives for commiting these crimes, there would be LESS of them.

"The man told the hunter he had a gun and threatened to kill him, said Sgt. T.E. Kiser of the Harris County Sheriff's Department homicide division."
At that point, all bets are off. Threaten me or my kin, you'd best make it good.

I understood awhile back that in Texas it was acceptable/legal to use 'deadly force' when protecting your own life or property..... don't know if this is still on the books or not.

After having gone through a car theft, I say kudos to the hunter. The SOB got what he deserved.
