I plan on not hunting much in early October, but will be hunting hard during the rut and the remainder of November. If I get a chance to shoot a large doe early, I will to get a quick 5 points. Other than a quick weekend to South Dakota for pheasants in early November, I will be hunting hard. Good Luck to my team hunting hard in the early doe season and the first few weeks of October.

Good Luck to my team hunting tomorrow. I will be in the woods Saturday morning. I am in no hurry to put scent in the woods due to high volume of mature does on the property and most of my pictures being 1.5 year old bucks. I will be taking the first mature doe, and on my primary property be waiting for a 3.5 year old buck. If I don't see him, I may take a buck on some of the other property I hunt just to keep the landowners happy. Good Luck all, BE SAFE. :coolgleam

Good job Mrelkman. We need a couple more of those to catch up. I seen a monster on Sat. night. He will probably score around 135 in. if he gives me a shot. The only problem is he is an Indiana Buck....I already moved my stand to a different spot. I am not going back out there for a couple weeks...Already put to much scent out there this weekend.................How is everyone else doing????

I hope you get a good shot at that buck even if he is in Indiana. Sounds like a great buck. I saw 7 does and fawns Saturday morning. No bucks. I was hunting a travel area between some Apple Trees and a bedding area. I am not going to hunt that stand again until the an evening hunt in a few weeks because I bumped probably a dozen deer on the way in. My son and I are goint to hunt an elevated box blind Friday night. It will be his first time in the woods with me on an actual deer hunt. I will take another doe if they come in. I'm not expecting much. He does not have a very long attention span, so we will probably sneak into the blind at 6:00 or so. He and I are both really looking forward to this. Good Luck to all my teammates. We probably have another 5 - 7 days before the bucks shut down and rest up for the rut. Be safe everyone.

hey everyone i forgot to introduce myself. Anyways i'll be hunting MLP for bow and NE LP during gun season. I just had some final touches to take care of and should be in full force come Wednesday. If i see a mature doe i plan on taking care of that right away than i can sit in the stand and wait for some horns. hopefully everyone gets out in the woods anyway, it sure is fall outside and theres not a better time of year;). take care everyone and good luck in the sticks.

Thanks Mrelkman.....If I get a shot at him, he will be my biggest buck...To bad I cant score him in on the contest...I think he is going to dress out at around 200 and I am guessing 4.5 yrs....I am guessing they will be taking the corn off the field soon and Im getting worried...This is my first time hunting down here and I dont know what the deer will do...I dont think they have the hunting pressure like michigan but I here gun season is just like michigan..So...I am gonna have to get him before Nov. 15...I am trying to make it home to get some hunting done there...It is going to be in the high 70's and low 80's this weekend here in Indiana so I might try and sneak home to MI to get some hunting in and get the camper ready for deer camp...that is only three weeks away...time is flying by this year...Ive been working so much overtime ive lost track of time....Anyways...good luck yall...be safe and get the big one...

I hunted Friday night with my 5 year old, Saw a few does, but nothing close enough, I probably would not have shot due to warm weather. I checked my deer cam on Saturday. I have a picture of a nice buck that I am going after. He came in two days in a row at 4:10 AM and worked a licking branch. I will post pictures for your opinions later tonight or tomorrow. I am not going to hunt until at least October 23, due to most pictures of bucks at night and this warm weathered full moon phase, unless you guys think differently. Let me know if any of you are seeing mature bucks during daylight hours either while hunting or on the cam.

How is the weather up there boys....Anybody seen the thirty pointer yet...I will be up there in a week for my one week vacation...The boys and I all go up for a week every year around Mecosta county....After we get back I will be doing some hunting on either a piece of land that borders the Shiawassee game refuge that my buddy owns or heading down to my other buddies property in Oakland County...Last year we seen some very nice deer on the property near the refuge...My buddy had two monsters start fighting 20 yrds in front of him and he was never able to get a shot off....I would have thought he was lying if I wouldnt have heard the horns clashing myself from where I was sitting...Good luck this weekend for those who are going out....Its going to be rough with this full moon but ya never know....Its supposed to be cold down here in Indiana so I will be in the stand all weekend hoping to see that monster I saw shortly after the opener....Hopefully I will have pics to show off shortly....Good luck guys...

Well a lot of action on Saturday. I had 4 button bucks walking around the stand. I had a couple does but they would not come into range. Ended up stuck in the tree until half hour after dark because of the deer.
Today didn't see a dang thing. Talk to a few of my buddies hunting other places they told me the same thing nothing. On the way home from hunting didn't see one deer at all. I guess they were being lazy on sunday and watching the lions lose.

Hey guys,
Sorry I havent been around much but my father passed away last month and with being the trustee of the estate I have had my hands full with a lot of matters. I work til around 7 each night and my weekends have been consumed by trying to sell the house, liquidating investments, and distributing assets to my 4 brothers and relatives. I really need to get in the woods and am looking forward to tonight as I am headed out.
Hope you guys are doing well and good luck.

Guys,
Was out Saturday morning early and was getting frustrated because i had not seen any deer by 9:30. At 9:30 I looked to my left and had a small 6 pointer come within 5 yards. At 10:30 heard 3 grunts and lots of running. Nice big wide buck with bad front shoulder chasing 2 does. Not close enough to put him out of his misery. 11:30, another 1.5 year old 7 point chasing a doe. About 80 yards away. On the way out, found a dead yearling that looked to be taken out by a yote. Good Luck all, be safe. I am going out WED then Saturday morning. :)

I saw a handful tonight and am wishing now that I had shot one of the does. The way they were running though I thought a buck was chasing them so I passed and a buck never showed up. They werent moving much though with all of the wind. Maybe next weekend.

I'm still seeing chasing, younger bucks are wandering. 2.5 and older are in the thick areas with 1 doe that is ready to go. I was close to taking a 3.5 year old on Monday, but due to snow in the thicket, I could only see the tips of the antlers and only know the buck from trail cam pictures. If you have a stand over looking or near a bedding area, I would get in early. This buck was in the bedding area with the doe before first light. All deer I've seen since Sunday are close or in the bedding area before first light. In the evenings I have been seeing deer working towards the food sources. It's hard to tell though. Hunting this year has been different due to weather. Most of my trail cam pictures this week have been at night. Good Luck!

Well Boys.....Went up north on Fri. night and was out at first light sat... Didnt see anything in the morning besides flags running everywhere. About an hour before dark I was still hunting and kicked up one buck bedded on a ridge. After making it down the ridge I got to an old logging train and sat and watched that for a few moments..I caught one small basket crossing that and let him walk. About two minutes later i heard a shot less than 100 yrds from me.....Im guessing he is dead now. Other then that, I never saw anything the rest of Sun. or Mon. Ended up going back to Mom and Dads for mon. night thru Wed. afternoon. I had one doe at 242 yrds on the rangefinder and let her walk.....Didnt feel comfortable taking that shot and we also had a strong west wind so..........Other than that...Im back in Indiana right now but will be back in MI for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Good luck to everyone....Hope to see some deer on the board soon....See ya guys.....

Good job Mrelkman.......All I scene all weekend was yotes and other people....Two kids walked in on me at 4:30 yesterday...So I went back to the house, grabbed the .17 and a diapragm turkey call, went back out and sat on a hill overlooking an old gravel pit....Smoked to yotes in less than ten minutes...Thats the first time I ever did this and even though I only saw two....That was a blast....I took that diapragm call and started making alot of loud squeeling calls with it and in less than five minutes...here come two yotes running in together....The first one stopped and looked at 60 yrds.....smoked him....then the other one actually ran about 20 yrds closer and stopped....smoked him too.....Even though I didnt see any deer, that was still a great way to end a weekend....I am planning on going back and trying it again towards Christmas...:mischeif:

Guys, I took another doe, my third of the year. This is the biggest doe I have ever shot. I'm guessing between 6 and 10 years old. I saw 8 does together on the 29th. I took out the biggest. Good Luck in ML season.
