Has anyone here ever used one of the "Oil Filter Relocation Kits" on an I/O?? I have a 99 Seaswirl Striper 2600 w/ 5.0 Volvo Penta Gi DuoProp. This is the first season I had the boat. We started the winterization Sat. Less than 2 hours we had the lower unit completely removed, cleaned, greased, put back. We were making great time, until we got to the oil changin. I ran the engine, sucked out the oil, then spent 6.5 hours, and god knows how many tools, mangling and destroying the oil filter before finally getting it off(I was envisioning a full engine removal to get this f'n thing off). You know how it is. No room to work down there. ANyway, I'm not going through that again, so I'm looking to relocate the oil filter to a bulkhead or something. Just wondering if anyone has ever used one of these kits?

Put a remote filter kit (Summit Racing Equipment , SummittRacing.com ) and a oil pan drain kit ( Boat US or Overtons has them ) in my SeaRay , 350 Chevy .
It used to be a major chore were I had to pull floor panels , then struggle to get to the filter , stand on my head to get to the drain plug ( After pumping out through the dipstick I pulled the drain plug ,I am a believer in leaving NO old oil in the motor ) then scrub out the bilge to clean up a pint of old oil .
Now in about 15 min. I have the pan drained , new filter on and new oil in . not a drop of oil anywhere .
Spent about $60 total including some fittings to adapt the drain hose so I can still use the pump .
Now I service the motor 2 to 3 times a season .
You may have to research to get a remote kit for that motor but the people at Summit are great help .
You will NEVER regret the investment .

I got the filter re-location kit yesterday at Ramchargers. Just have to get some SS screws and Hose clamps today. I saw the pumps this weekend that "T" into your Oil Pan drain Plug. Probably would be better for getting everything out. My motor is still new and clean and the dipstick vacume worked good. Maybe that will be something for next year. Thanks for the response.
