I was up at dawn this morning. went down to Harley to see what I could wake up shorecasting. Duck hunters on the south side of the point. Every group had a couple. I managed to pull out a few medieum sozed Pike out of the river. worked my wy back up and around the point about 9:30. Duck hunters were clearing out. One guy out there without even a decoy spread stopped me and pointed to a patch of reeds a ways off shore. and told me something was chasing bait ever few minutes around there. I switched to a 1oz weedless Daredevle and made a few casts to the reeds. nothing. I fired my next cast right over the reeds and pulled it right through them. The water boiled, my line tightened and out of the water came a nice big Northern, somewhere in the 45-48" range. Two jumps in the 2-3' water and she was gone. The hunter and I just stood there and looked at each other for a second, mouths hanging open. Then he said, "Now you know what happened to all my decoys!"
