have never hunted with dogs and we do fine, I am disabled and need help but we go slow and take our time. took 3 plump squirrels apiece today and enjoyed a fine day. hope you find the dog you want and get to enjoy some good hunts. we love our barbecued flavor squirrel crockpot stew to come into when we are hunting on a cold day. It may sound goofy but it tastes great, our own recipe found from experimenting.

Sorry to hear about your little buddy, bu until you can a new dog go out and get a squirrel call. I don't have a dog but do use the call. They respond pretty well to them.

Put him on a leash and take him out anyway.. the smell of the woods alone will make him a happy puppy
