We were fishing in Lake Huron one time and we hooked a ROCK! Yep, it was all porous, and the hook made it in. Well, my buddy "fought" that thing for 20 minutes. We thought for sure it was a monster Laker. The way it would "shake" it's head at times as it was doing a sideways shimmy in the water as he would pull it. What a laugh! We threw it in the cooler and got all kinds of pictures. Same crew, same guy a couple years later during the Michigan Brown Trout Festival caught some kind of screen that looks like a point on a well. Thought we had Big Brownie for sure!

I did the same thing off Light House Park in the thumb. It was a porous rock that my hook sunk into and was I off to a ride. Took forever to bring in... back forth back n forth then finally it came up.
We laughed so hard I forgot the take a picture and the rock now is missing. :(

One time, in band camp this..................................
Any ways, one summer about 15 years ago we were fishing deep for anything that would bite off of south haven, trying to work the cannon balls just feet off the bottom, when we hooked up on something huge. The guy who was on the rod swore up and down it was a 50 lb laker, he fought this thing for about 20-25 minutes. He gets it close to the surface and I see a silver shine, but not very long so I am thinkin "big sheepshead", I grab the net, and scoop up his.......................Spoked wheel cover!:yikes: Thats right a frickin hubcap! Hooked right in the center where the emblem was!
OH MY GOD did we bust a gut! This guy was all red and beat down, arms a throbbin. Man was that a great time. The guys took a pic of it, and threw it back in so some other poor sob could catch it another day.
I often wonder about how that stupid hubcap got all the way out to 180 feet of water! I think he hooked it in 175 and fought it to 180
