I'll be digging a lot of horseradish out of my garden this year. Usually I just grind it up, mix with vinegar, then pack in old babyfood jars and toss in the freezer.
Anyone have any recipes for horseradish sauce or have any other suggestions of what I can try with it? Anyone want any fresh-ground horseradish?

My father in law makes his own and has a tough time getting the consistancy right.
How/what do you use to grind?
I love that stuff!! I can hardly eat ham or prime rib without it.

MIBow, I've tried several methods. What I found works best is one of those 4-sided metal slicer/graters. I use the side with the small holes and just grate the root by hand. Its a slow process but the root gets finely grated and the results are worth the effort. When its all grated I then add the vinegar to the right consistancy.

Mix horseradish w/mayonnaise....(mix to your own tase). Use it as a dipping sauce for beef...Tastes great and is something different.
Also try mixing it w/mustard to make a hot-mustard sauce.

Venison Horseradish Rubbed Steaks! These are greats, easy, and extreamly fast.
In a sauce pan add half a stick of butter and a couple of teaspoons of lemon pepper salt. Once heated through brush onto steaks and place onto broiler. Broil for about 4 minutes per side brushing when flipping over. Take a about a half a tubb of sour cream and add in scoops of horseradish. drop in another teaspoon or two of lemon pepper salt into sauce and serve.
Sorry about the generalities I never cook with measurments. Make it a few times and make adjustments as needed.

I'll take some if you have any left over. I work in Pontiac so send me a PM and let me know where and when.
Thanks.

I knew an oldtimer who poured a bit of whiskey in a few specially labeled jars too.
