hedaman
09-07-2008, 10:23 AM
Ooop's almost forgot to tell you that I'll be doing most of my hunting in SE LP near Chelsea and Stockbridge.
However I will make a trip to Hilldale and Kalkaska some time this season.
I already have two treestands up in some real good place's and I also use a portable ground blind for those hard to get to spots.
Good luck to all and lets be careful to use our safety harness's , wouldn't want anyone to get hurt.

I'll go along with whatever everyone likes the most , if you all can come up with more then post'em up.
If anyone is good at making graphic designs for our avatar or banner , show us what you can do.

( Team No Bait ) ... thats some funny _ _ _ _ there , I never hunted over bait anyways , used sents and hunted near natural food source's but never baited.

spiritofthewild_06
09-08-2008, 01:59 PM
Team no baits gonna be every team:lol: I really don't care either way, i've used bait in the past during muzzleloader but I can hunt without just as good, if not better;)

Shot outdoor junkie an PM. Told him he was last to check in. Does that mean he's got to gut everyones first deer this year?
Just got back from camp. We need rain. The swamp's too dry. Didn't even need my hip boots. I hunt mostly in Roscommon Co. but a do a little hunting in Missaukee, Monroe and Lenawee Co's.

hedaman
09-08-2008, 05:22 PM
I did a little spring turkey hunting up in roscommon , really nice up there.
I sent outdoor junkie an e - mail too and one on a diffrent site as well.
Maybe we should make him gut our first kill and then drag it out too. L O L

Team bloodtrail is cool with me. But, if it's already been used before. We can go with Broadhead Bandits, that's a good name. I have stands in Orion,Gladwin,Port Austin and Ubly. I will be leaving on the 31st for a week. To hunt my best friend's land, that we have six stands and food plots all set up for this season.

Good Luck to everyone, let's win this thing!!

I like Team No Bait also.

So who are the bow hunters, combo, and gun hunters of our team.
I signed up for bow only.
I hunt the whole season but my best chance at a nice buck is during bow season due to lack of hunting pressure during bow season in my area.

hedaman
09-09-2008, 06:04 PM
Although I have a combo license , I'm strickly a bow hunter.
I chose bow only for this contest and I will hunt with my bow the entire season.

I'm here, I'm here geez. Sorry I've been super busy at work. I guess if I gotta gut everyones deer, I better go pick up a few more butt-outs.:D I don't care what you guys decide on a team name, as long as at the end we are called team winner. Good luck to all and be safe this year. I do most of my hunting in Montrose(Saginaw county) and a bit on our farm in Hale(Iosco county). And hunt december in Kansas(do out of state deer count?). I hunt bow, gun, and muzzle. But probably 80% with my bow.

Good luck to you junkie and be careful too , hope you get a big one down.
By the way did you see my invite on camospace , saw your name on there and sent you a message.
I'll see what I can do for an avatar and I hope some of you guys will do the same.

So since we are team No Bait does that mean I have to clean up my bait piles??? Joking of course!!!:hide::lol:

Is anyone good with making up something we can use as our signature?

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that 90% of my deer hunting is done with my bow, however I decided to go combo this year...just in case, since last year I shot my buck with my shotgun...I am passing on all small bucks this year and consentrating on taking does...unless Mr. Bruiser comes crashing by;)

Oh yeah guys one thing...well hopefully all of your stands are in place, but if you need to get them out, be careful of the poison ivy!!! Put mine out over labor day, not even thinking, since I've never had a problem with ivy before, but anyway I hung my stand in a tree with ivy on it. Both my arms all the way up to my arm pits, and my face are covered. Been two weeks now, 2 trips to the ER and a whole lot of roids and its just now starting to clear up!!!

Be careful out there!!!!

Good thing you didn't have to take a leak at the time. Did that when I was about 13. Got it real bad. I'll never forget that.

Glad you could make it Junkie.

It's not a bait pile its a compost pile, Voilators will be shot on sight. I don't bait much, used shelled corn a bit in the past. Watching the critters eat it on slow days passes the time.

So how many acres we talkin here??? Or are we just gonna all sit in the middle of a pasture and start blastin the first thing that steps out?:16suspect:confused:

kristie
09-11-2008, 12:36 PM
to the north, my house....can view the whole thing from the deck....it's intertaining...
to the south....woods
to the west....woods....
to the east....more alfalfa and old field
on the south end of the field...a pond and trees.....lots of hiding cover in the edges
about 9-13 does with fawns and 4 bucks coming through nightly now
my property becomes refuge due to a mini game area about an 1/8 of a mile down. Once people start shooting in there, the deer funnel into my property.
Also the deer go from the Grand river through my pasture to the alfalfa....I have permission to put hunters on the 10 acres......
I have a tree stand up already, and would be willing to have more go up, just shoot me a pm.........

oh, and the deer don't care about dogs...horses....me.....or people walking around by the house, as they see me feeding horses every night....even if I've walked the pasture that day, they still come through.....

cmk86
09-11-2008, 05:41 PM
This would be a bow hunt correct? I'm a Fireman so I work every other day for 3-24 hr shifts than 4 days off. That leaves a fair amount of time off. I do work a second job also but I can get out of that. Weekday? Weekend? Oct? Nov? Any leftover doe tags in the area?

hedaman
09-11-2008, 05:46 PM

Does anyone have any good deer cam picture's this year yet?

kristie
09-11-2008, 11:53 PM
There are 10,183 antlerless private land permits left as of right now, so I'm not seeing them run out right away. I'll PM ya'all the info you'll need for the permit purchase. They can be picked up already for my DMU. Weeknights, weekend, Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec are fine, my sister is always home, I'll be very busy at the Disease lab cutting up deer heads, but should be home evenings to help butcher, and maybe take a doe too, and there are PLENTY of big'ens......and we can work out times for scouting if you'd like as well.
Bow, and also shotgun are acceptable, but bow works well in my neighborhood. Either work better if you have 2+ people out, but ya'all can strategize that. And all my horses are people safe, and gun safe (they tolerate shot noise, even fireworks....).
Kristie

Hedaman, I was going to say the old guy with all the free time but I way trying to be nice. I'd like to check out kristie's land before I hunt it. How far are you from 94? I'll be passing Ypsi on my way. If it works out maybe we could ride out together.

I'll be busy the better part of next 2 weeks. I have a few days here and there. I'll be heading North on the 30th be back on the 3rd sometime. It might work out good for me to try for a day in Oct. leave early set-up and maybe hunt that afternoon. Oct 4th or 5th looks good for me at this time. The 5th is a Sunday so she may be home to show us around. She said she will be busy with work this year.

All other team members are welcome too. By the looks of everyones location Her property is pretty centraly located between us. If anyone else has a day that would work better for them lets see um. I'm going to try not to pick up much side work during the hunting season so I'll have some time to spend with the family. I have three daughters. Oh yeah, a wife too. (almost forgot about her.:lol:)
