Well here we are! Hey Koz were on the same team again?:) We would have ended up in 2nd place last year if that one guy would have submitted his kills for the team. I think we ended up in 5th. Heading up to camp to pull film tomorrow. I have had 5 cameras out for the last month on our 160 acre lease in Isabella county. Had a decent season last year but really looking forward to this year as I'm going to Iowa for a week of bowhunting over Thanksgiving;) Here's the two I submitted for points last year! Past team names for me have been 'Just Passin Thru' and the 'The Wolf Pack' any ideas for this years? Good Luck to all

Hello all, wishing everyone patience and good luck for the upcoming season. I didn't put out my cameras this year but have just been seeing a lot of does. I'm sure the bucks will be there, but they are good at hiding out in the swamp.

I'm here and ready. These are just 3 of the many "shooter" bucks in my neighborhood (the first one might need another year to reach 3.5). There's another that we have film of over the last 3 years, this year he'll go close to 160" as a 5 yo.
Anyway, glad to be linked with the lot of ya. Not sure how Captain, Koz, and I all got on the same team but I'm headed to 7-11 to by lotto tickets.

With the team number 23 maybe we incorporate MJ and CHAMPIONSHIPS into our logo and moto. Just a thought.

Hey Captain - must of been a different Koz, as I did not participate last year, unless someone signed me up and I was one of the ones that did not submit. This is my first deer team contest.

BigT - QDMAMAN is on our team too. How ironic, as we were on the turkey contest team this spring and took 2nd. We are going to get 1st this time. I got three E-mails today saying that it is rigged!

Prepare for some smack talking this year, and if you were on team Just Passin Thru, then you definitely know what I am talking about.

Have not put out a camera this year, but have more food plots and cover than you would shake a stick at. Putting out a camera would be scary. I doubt I would sleep.

Are any or all of you into QDM?? Only reason I ask is that if so, maybe we could incorporate something that represents that into our name. I know that BigT, Lyle and I are. But - if not, that is fine too, it does not matter either way.

Looking forward to having some fun and getting a chance to get to know everyone on the team.

but I do like to use discretion for the most part. I did shoot a 3 pt. last year for my first bow kill, but had let a number of 4's and 6's walk after that. Can't say as much for my neighbors though .

One bright spot, I did see some good markings a few weeks ago, so there are still some out there.

Your right Koz, my old team mate was Koz121 I believe. And I came up with the name "Team Passin Thru" two years ago in the first deer contest. Someone on that team passed it to the 2nd deer contest and then along to you guys for turkey....;) I think we all just need to go hunt with QDM MAN and blow this thing wide open!

Capt - I think that is Kotz21, if I recall.

Anyway, glad to be on board. If I go and hunt with T, he will make me shoot does, and it is going to be a stretch for me to do so this year, even though it is the right thing to do. He is very protective of his bucks!

00Buckshot69Yea,

Bucky - I don't think it is Big T and I you need to be worried about. Look at the rest of the team. Some are living in some pretty big buck country and the entire team looks like a strong showing to me!

Better watch out, BigT will want to help you with that neighbor problem.

Just to be VERY on the record, I will never suggest how others should hunt. I have spent 20+ years of my life being "non-selective".

I would bet that at least a couple of those bucks you let walk are still roaming around today!

Glad to be on the team and will do my part to make this fun! That is what it is all about.

We need a name.....suggestions???

Drew - well that just sucks! I have not had any trespass issues on my land, but I do not have any cameras out at the moment either. I would be PO'd for sure.

I just posted some final food plot photos on the Whitetail Habitat forum this evening. I am officially done and will be staying out of there the rest of the fall until it is time to harvest. I have 14 stands up, and will be the only one hunting. November 2nd could not come fast enough.

Just checkin' in. I hunt state land in Muskegon. I'm a college kid at Ferris State so I only get to hunt the weekends. I hunt out of an ambush saddle and tend to hunt the funnels I've found over the years wayyyy back in the timber. It's been pretty good for me so far, we'll see what this year has in store for me. Shoot straight!

Here's a pic of an eight point I got with my bow last year.

Welcome aboard Tip Up.....When I went to GVSU (long time ago) we used to hunt right on campus;) and I think we may have gotten up to the state land in Muskegon to at least duck hunt a few times.

in response to high demand i decided to come over here just for Koz and explain my special stands set up for does only...First you go about painting the stand pink..Then you go around and spray female colon all around the area..give it a week or two and then plant coco beans for the females in need of a little chocolate additive..Then when time comes to hunt..just shower down with that fruity loofah you have hiding and call it good:lol::lol::lol::lol:

ok Koz, seriously just set aside some stands that were only shooting a doe out of to leave my bow stands alone..if we get one to come in good, if not i stayed out of my opening day stand:evil:

Cass are you even on a team?

Cass really has never belonged to a team in his life. He just thinks he is part of the team. Have him show you his foodplotting photos and the war scars he received while planting.

As you can tell by his post, he is already focused on shooting sissy deer. He even has to setup stands in order to get one! Probably will read it in the local paper when he does.

As far as smelling something fishy goes......Cass....I won't go there, because we will start seeing pictures of you humping a sign post again!

CLAY - You hunt with my buddy Horseshoe (Jeff) and the rest of my friends who head up to the UP aye, from down here in St Joe! And, a Bulldog to boot! I remember seeing your photo last year and yours too capt.

I am having a small Ferris annual class reunion at my cabin this coming weekend. Yes, we are going to run the deer on my property wild for a few days. Don't worry, they will be back!

Where is Lyle - I see him posting on the habitat forum...he probably either does not know that this is live, or he is trying to stay away from us. I will give him a bump.

Is it November yet???

No, I do not hunt in the UP, used to hunt in Charlevoix County, but now on my land down here. They do their thing and I do mine.

You missed a hell of a year up there last year. They took some dandy deer, including a big 10 point.

Yea my father and a few others meet Jeff and them up there every year so I got to hear about how good it was up there last year. That was a nice 10 point Ron took, did he end up mounting it?

As far as team names go, what about something like CWD (Choosing Worthy Deer)

Ok so we are making a prototype field drag that should be coming out sometime next season..This photo is the original thought/made on the spot idea that we had..

Ok, now that we have our Cass and his prototype sighting behind us.

I think we need to stay away from the whole CWD topic. That will create some issues. Or, maybe we want issues.

So, we could do the reverse effect of the name. Instead of Just Passin Through, we could change it to Team Through Passin! Would represent the opposite of QDM and would lend itself well to support of the CWD initiative. Maybe even reverse your trend Drew using it in the past.

Could also speak to the MJ #23 comment, as I did not see him do much passin in his career either.

I'm alive fella's and checking in!!!

I had no idea that this was live!! But know that I know I am here to stay!!

A little bit about me.... I own property in Manistee county and am a QDM participant!! I own 10 acres and lease 40 that touches my property to the north. I am in the process of buying the 40 acres too!! The 40 was clear cut about 17 years ago and is a GREAT Piece of property. I have one neighbor to my west that until last year was not on the QDM train. I am happy to report that this year my son and I planted 5 acres of his 20 in food plots!! He is a believer after seeing some photos and now he owns more cameras than I do. I do not have any pictures to post as I am still old school. I still have to take the film and get it developed!! I plan on replacing the cameras one at a time to all digital. The budget does not allow me to this year as I have over 10 "film" trail cams!

I have approx 5-8 acres planted in food plots on my property and two ponds. I have a nice clover stand at one plot, Max attract 50/50 in another, and a rye/BFO in the third!

Last year I did not harvest a buck as the three that I was after never presented a shot. MAN AM I GLAD that I didn't as these guys are MONSTERS this year!! I do shoot my fair share of does (As many as I legally can) and my family does as well. I have a wife and 5 children that ALL hunt. My 13 y/o son passed up a 4 point and a spike last year as he said they were not "big" enough..This was his choice and his choice alone!! He was hunting with my wife at the time and she told him to shoot when the young bucks presented a shot (my wife said they presented plenty!). I would have told him to shoot too!! again, his choice and I am proud of him and as proud of as I would have been if he had harvested one of those bucks!!

I plant all of my plots with a 1948 farmall cub and vintage implements. I also am a writer for a Michigan based hunting website. I have an article on food plots and old tractors. Give it a read at www.huntersprostaff.com (http://www.huntersprostaff.com) if you get a chance. I have shot professional 3-D archery in the past and have been an avid bowhunter for 26 years.

Well, that is enough about me....I just wanted to say that I am glad to be a part of this team and it looks like I am paired up with a great bunch of bowhunters!! :D
Shoot straight and best regards,
Lyle

give me a couple of days and I can have a banner or two.

A little about myself. I work in the computer field for a steel company, but mainly focus in the network side. Keeping all our branches talking together. I've got 20 acres that I live on in northern Jackson county that I'm using to bring my kids up and to hunt on. I've been a self taught hunter, this is my 4th year. I've got a soon to be 3 year old and a 6 month old. They are the main reasons why I've moved out to the country and want to teach them everything you have is earned. This is what hunting has taught me and now for the past 2 years, I'm proud to say we have not bought any beef. I harvested 1 buck and 3 doe last year and that has provided our family with enough meat to last the year. So it's time to fill the freezer again and I'm glad I can have a little fun with it with you guys! Let's make it a great year!

Your story, also lends us to be the winner. Young boy passing up 2 bucks. Almost unheard of even as little as 5 years ago.

I did spot a 12 or 14 point last week. I'm not a good judge on what it would score, but it's definatley the finest deer I've ever seen. Luckily, the land to the east of me hasn't sold yet (110 acres mostly cedar swap) and they kicked off the guys who were leasing it. And the neighbors to the west are vegetarians and don't allow anybody to hunt. It's the people on the other side of them I'm worred about.

But as long as I can sit in a tree, I'm happy. It sounds like the rest of you guys feel the same way. I might have to hit one of you guys up for some advice on building a better habitat. It definately sounds like some experience in this group. Even though I don't have much to work with, it can never hurt.

OK its official I submitted our Team name to the Powers that Be....Koz I think you missed a step with the banner. Took me a few times to get it to work, but I had to click "Insert" banner pic which is located right above delete previous signature.....

Yep! You are correct. Sorry, was typing from memory. I fixed the previous post with the instructions, so I am pretty sure it is right now.

Looks Great!

Just got back from my cabin for the Ferris reunion weekend. Holy Waterfall!

6.43" yesterday and almost 3" today! Good thing I built it for floods!

Wow!:yikes:
I thought we had a bunch. We had 4" Sat. and another 2" Sun.
Needless to say my plots aren't thirsty anymore.

It is official. 10.3" total since Friday night! Just talked to the farmer next to my land. That is a lot of moisture!

The Saturday 6.43" that fell set a record for a one day total dating back to 1938 when 4.25" fell in one day!

A little homoish on the colors, but it's cool. I made one but I can't upload it while I'm at work, I can email to someone if they want to do it for me.

It doesn't have the team name in it, but it has room for both that and the members names.

Did someone important say something?;)

The colors obviously represent the colors of the sky at dawn. Rmember the old saying "red skies at night, sailors delight, red skies in morning, big bucks take warning!".:D

A little homoish on the colors,

I'm secure enough in my manhood to role with the color, if it's a sensitive thing to you maybe Riverlady has room on her team for ya.
Is "homoish" a word?

Backwoods01,
I'll be hunting does on Friday morning in my backyard in Eaton County, probably get in hunts Sat. and Sun. as well, or until I tag out.:)
Starting around Halloween I'll be bow hunting in Eaton, Ingham, and Barry Counties and I'll spend a weekend or 2 in Chippewa Co. with the rifle or smokepole.
