checking in team, hopefully i have better luck this year. first time i have not killed a deer with my bow in 8 years. thinking this contest might have cursed me , but i am back for another year of fun.

Hi all. At the very least, I will take a doe this year as my freezer is getting empty. Hopefully I can get a few antler points too.

I was succesfull on doe tag this morning, so hopefully I will be able to fill it. I passed on some smaller bucks last year so hopefully they will be bigger this year, wich forced me to put 3 does down last year :evil:.
Also I am archery only for our team. If you applied for a doe tag check it out to see if you were awarded one.

I signed up as a Combo for this year due to I'll be hunting with my 10 year old daughter during most of the Archery Season (Will get out a few times on my own though).

Just checking in team. Didn't get the antlerless permit but will be hunting both bow and gun with the combo tag. Also passed on a few bucks last year that should be a little more repsectable this season.
I like the reference to blackjack for the name. Rackjack 21 or visa versa, either sounds good.

Cool looks like we have a name. As for team captain I have no problem with but Steve or someone else might be a better choice if they have pics of nice bucks they are pursuing. Remember we are competing against Ohio Sportsman.com, I have no pics of bucks im going after other than the deer I let pass last year so keep that in mind. I have no trail cams so I have not seen the quality of bucks in the erea im hunting.
Lets try to pick someone for sure today and get the ball rolling.

I'm hunting the early bow season, firearm season and some of the late bow season in NE Manistee County. Might get a chance to hunt the late antlerless season in Hillsdale.

I will be hunting an area north of Minden City and south of Verona Rd. State Game area. Private Land. I have a pretty good buck population, and we need to get rid of some does. I am going to hunt for a few weeks and see if i can't connect on a biggun before shooting anything. Strange thing happens around the pheasant opener. I start to see a ton more bucks that i haven't identified earlier in the season and i can only attribute it to the heavy pressure that happens with the bird hunters. The same can be said for a few days after the gun opener. My whole section is QDM, and from what my neighbor tells me, so are the surrounding sections.

Oddly enough, the last 3 weekends I have seen the same bachelor group of 8 (with one true bruiser) vacuum the ground of fallen apples every morning, and i have only seen a few does and fawns. Hmmmmm.....
