Allright! I'm here.....and we've got two teams that are mostly women so we can come in first & second place. I love it! I'm real curious to find out what this Ohio-Sportsman vs Michigan-Sportsman is all about.
I guess we can get started by telling a bit about ourselves. My name is Lauren & I've been hunting for at least 25 years (I'm 56 now). My hubby Mike & I retired on the same day from the same place (Chrysler) a little over a year ago so I have LOTS of time to hunt. We do a good deal of our hunting at our place outside of Oscoda and I've seen a nice 10 point hanging around...probably the 8 point from last year that I couldn't get a shot at! I can also hunt my property down here (outside of Romeo), we've got 8 acres but its got a farm on 2 sides (about 200 acres) that the farmer asked us to come & take "some of these damned deer" off of.
I signed up as a combo/gun/bow hunter but my first love is archery. Unfortunately, my shoulders are screwed up right now...been in physical therapy for a month & still can't draw my bow. But, its getting there. If I don't make it by Oct. 1, I'm sure I can get it after firearm season.
Glad to see some familiar names on the team & hope to learn more about the people I don't know. Good Luck to all of us!

Well last time I checked I am definitely a man. [checks again] Yup still a man. So here is a little bit about me.
I am 27 and have been hunting for only 1 year. I am or should I say was about as city as you can get. Grew up outside Portland Oregon and moved to Michigan about 11 years ago. My Father in Law has been hunting for 40+ years and one day I asked if I could try and shoot his bow. Well after a few arrows flew I was hooked. Practiced with an old compound oh his and hunted my for my first time last year. Let a spike walk right by me as I felt he was just too small to take even though I still need to get that first deer under my belt. We hunt 40 acres of property right near Devils Lake in Manitou Beach. Sooo nice to get up out of bed, walk 100 yards to the "hunting house" to get the gear on and walk another 150 yards to the stand :D . We did see two 6pts on the cuddeback months ago but we have not seen them since :( . We have a Doe and twin fawns that have not left the property so hopefully some bucks will find their way in. When I am not practicing with the bow or messing around on the property getting it ready I am wrenching on my 64 Volkswagen Beetle (http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=278771). I love hunting but it will always take a backseat to Volkswagens :evilsmile
I shoot a Cabelas PSE PL1.5 and I did choose Bow Only.

WOOHOO!!! I'm here & ready to rock!!!!
My name is Susan and I have been hunting for 25 years. Yup. . . this year I'm joining that wonderful group of the 40+. That's okay though, I'm still about 25 in my mind.
Mon - Fri I am an Office Manager of an animal hospital here in Saginaw, I also own my own Web Design business where I also do a lot of graphic design.
I have been bow hunting for the past 10 years and actually prefer bow, but I did put both bow & gun just in case the big one comes in when I have my shot gun in my hand.
My husband and I hunt the in-laws property in Hale, we also lease property in the Glennie area as well as hunting our own acreage here in Saginaw County that is surrounded by farm fields. We've only had a few does & fawns on our trail cams in the backyard but, in the woods behind we found a good buck rub and huge tracks so. . . . I'm hoping the 9 pt that was there last year is still around.
We hunt from Oct. 1 - Dec 31 and we are hoping for a successful year. Actually any year hunting is successful, I'm just hoping for a nice rack to help the team along.
Looking forward to cyber hunting with all of you.
Once we read all of our members bios let's brain storm on a name.

I guess I missed posting what I shoot. My bow is a Mathews MQ1, silent & deadly! I've got a selection of firearms, my favorites for deer are my Sako 30-06 or my Ultimate Firearms muzzleloader, 50 cal., handguns...Thompson G2 in 30-30 and for the early antlerless season I plan on using my scoped S&W 686 in 357 (just cause I don't have a rifled shotgun/barrel or any other straight-wall cartridge handgun).
Is it time yet? :chillin:

Hello Team.
Ok, I'm ready to shoot some bucks and talk some smack. Just a couple of my favorite things to do.
My name is Shawn, I love to bow hunt. Usually get pretty lucky. Once I've planted my rear end in the tree tops, it take the end of the season to get me out.;) I'm 41 have been hunting for about 18 years. Sheesh...that makes me feel old.
So, someone said they had some idea's for team name.

Hey Lauren - I didn't know there was a team Thwack Masters last year. I guess I wasn't on that much last year.
I really like the logos - Droptine Dreamers is cool - I love the image.

BTW, we're still missing FlyGirl. Does anyone know if she's out of town? I'll send her an e-mail or PM to ask her to check in.
Speaking of out of town, I will be in Ohio (Norwalk dragracing) from Thursday thru Sunday....so if I'm the hold-up on anything like picking names, etc....go ahead without me.

I really do like Hads first graphic and I'm torn between a few of the names (TnT, Buck Nockers, how about Ribcage Wreckers?). I'll leave the final decision up to the rest of you cause I probably won't be online much today and not at all until at least Monday afternoon. Wish us luck at the dragraces (Chrysler Classic @ Norwalk Ohio), it'd sure be nice to end the year winning some money!

TNT would just be the name.....the graphic doesn't have to have TaTa's nor Testies on it! I DO love that buck with the frosty exhale in the snowy birches. Also, I think RiverLady didn't like the "dreamer" portion of that Droptine name.
I checked in on our sister team #13 and I think they're picking Whitetail Whisperers, with a sub-title of Silence is Deadly. I like the sub-title, it's a nice touch in their logo.

While I was wasting some time, I actually looked them all up:
HunterHads, Bow, NLP, 10 years hunting
RIVER LADY, Bow, SLP, 19 years hunting
bluesun7602, Bow, SLP, 3 years hunting
Krmnnghia, Bow, SLP, 1 year hunting
autumnlovr, Combo, NLP/SLP, +/-25 years hunting
hookedonhunting, Combo, NE & Mid LP, 26 years hunting
FlyGirl, Combo, SLP, 1 year hunting
Nbman, Combo, SLP, 9 years hunting
We have 94 years combined deer hunting. I did the same exercise for our sister team #13, they have 111 years experience. But...we're gonna win. :D

I guess ill give you guys a little info on me while I have the time. Most of my hunting will be done at my property in Alcona Co. I head down there every weekend in the fall and this year I will have more time to hunt then ever because I have a 3 day weekend all fall long!!! :D. We have been seeing some good bucks this summer but I know there are bigger ones in the area then the ones I have been seeing. I don’t shoot small bucks but I see shooters every year on this property and with all the time I have to hunt it this fall I feel very confident that I will be able to down at least one nice buck with my bow. Ill also be hunting public land in Chippewa Co. during the week when I am home and also have some property in Otsego Co. that I may hunt a few times.
I will be shooting a few does this year too and plan on having 1 down in Chippewa Co. and 1 down in Alcona Co. the first week of the season.
Nbman and I will be doing a lot of hunting together this fall. We have been scouting a bunch of places up here in the UP over the summer and have a few great looking spots pick out on the public land up here. We will also both be gone for a week in mid Oct for an out of state hunt so you guys will have to pick up the slack while we are away. ;)
Last year I shot a nice 8pt in Alcona Co. that made CBM and also a doe up here in Chippewa Co. I also missed a very nice 9pt in Otsego Co. My team won last years contest and I plan to help lead this team back to the top this year!
Oh and im one of our bow only members. I shoot a Mathews Switchback XT…… I just noticed 4 of use shoot Mathews! Good Call! ;)

OK, I'm going to go out on a limb here & possibly PO some of my teammates. I like the TNT, Chasin' Tail name. I prefer Had's graphic but I'm not thrilled the way it appears widened...it looks out of proportion. The idea of the buck chasing the doe is cool but the pictures are pretty monotone, they just aren't as eye-catching as the birches pic. Also, I think the font is hard to read, a little too ornate for a signature line pic. And...the last thing, my screen-name is missing the "o", it should be Autumnlovr. :smile-mad
I do appreciate the effort put into this because I had to do the banner for my team last year so I'm enjoying watching your creative efforts. I hope the criticism is taken as a constructive comment.
I'm also in favor of a democracy. If the majority want one of the submitted banners, I'd proudly use it in my posts (as long as my name gets fixed!)
And...I think Hads would be a fine representative for us in the MI/OH contest.

Sorry for the error. I've fixed the color on the image -- I didn't want the image to compete with the text so I had removed a bit of the color. I've fixed it now. I used this image because it is one I took out of my backyard and so I'm positive it's not owned by anyone else. I've seen people get burned using someone elses image.
Also, Autumnlovr has been fixed.
If someone has a different image either send it to me and I will fix the logo or show us what you have done. I don't care either way who does the logo, I'd just like it done. Other teams have their stuff done and I'd like to order my t-shirt. ;)

OK....I've added the banner to my signature so I sure hope we all decide it's the one! Now, lets get out there & do some scouting. As soon as the floods recede, I've got to go wander around the back 40 of the farm across the street. Last year, before the farmer gave me permission to hunt there, I was spotting a nice 12 pointer. I sure HOPE he's still there! Until then, I guess I'll be unpacking & doing laundry from being at the race track for 4 days of mostly rain. We got to race from about 6pm Saturday to about 4am Sunday...and I am SOOOO tired. And no...we did not do any good racing.

Sorry. Went out of town for the weekend.
I'm good with the name and the logo. Good work.
I vote for Had going up again Ohio also. Unless someone has a better opportunity to get some good size bucks?. If not, Hads it is.

i agree with hads on the Ohio, and the logo/TNT. do it.
I'm gonna meet up with the farmer this afternoon and check out some spots. it sounds like he's got all corn planted so there might be an issue there... but we'll see. :D

Hads,
Are you helping run this show? Can you register our name, or do we have to contact theredmission or Kelly? I'd like to get my t-shirt ordered. Is anyone else going to get one? Are you getting our team name/your screen name? If so, on the back? Or, on the sleeve?

Susan,
Sorry for stepping on your toes (asking about Hads getting us registered) but I'm having a REAL hard time with my sattelite connection working. I wrote that last post about 4-5 hours before it finally took!
