Hi,
My name is Tim I live and hunt in northeast Newaygo county. I hunt all private land lot's of deer not the greatest quality of bucks. I will be hunting with a bow only for the contest. I have never hunted in 30 years of bowhunting without success so I will definitely be putting some point's on the board. Hope to hear about some names maybe.

Name is Scott...and I'm hunting with bow for the contest. Own 40acres and lease another 80 in Arenac county. All private around me and most of the property owners are pretty selective these days....there are some good ones around. Unfortunately I'll miss the week just prior to rifle....I'll be in Manitoba the 10th-15th :evilsmile

They must of screwed up putt'in this team together. Winner, winner venison dinner!
And no Josh, I did'nt really notice where you were hunting and it does'nt look like any of us are short on good areas. And we still have one member to sign in. Probably hunts his own 5,000 acre apple orchard/ceder swamp/river bottom/oak stand property that butts up to a wildlife preserve in Deerheaven, Michigan. Come on Sam!!!!!
Maybe we should have are own little team contest. You know, so we can actually enjoy some competition.

Hey Jeff where do you hunt in the Evart area private or public, thats where i got my feet wet in deer hunting..We hunted off off 110th ave on the public land there...
Just wondering dont want no specifics...just curious..

I try to get up there at least one or two weekends a year. I also got my feet wet on the public land off 110th and 15 Mile. My family has a cottage on Little Long Lake. Started there when I was 10 with pops.. Never missed a year. That place is "Tradition" to me. Did you have a place up there or were you camping back in there? Even though we had a cabin, we camped most of the time. Not really camping when you have a shower, crapper and TV right up the road, but it made it more like hunt'in. Awesome country.

Name is Sam. I hunt all over, some in Marquette and Alger County, Presque Ilse county, Grand Traverse County, Ingham, and Antrim County. I am lucky, I get to go all over and hunt. Some public land but mostly private. Hunt a QDM program in some locations. Bowhunt and Rifle hunt. I will check in on here a lot, these contests are lots of fun. I would be willing to trade a hunt with one or more of you if anyone is interested in coming up here to the UP.

Jeff we just had "our" traditional camping area that we stayed every year, like everyone else had that we all became friends over the yrs..Sure do miss the area we took alot of nice deer out of there,i've only been back once since my dad died in 93' and killed a huge 6pt with an 18 inch spread and he was 41/2 yrs old...
It's nice to see someone on here that also got there feet wet in the same area.....Good luck this yr...

Some of the names have been really lame, let's go for one that's not so cheesy. Off the top of me head I don't have any ideas, whoops. I am going to spend most of the weekend getting things set, I have 5 stands I want to set here in the UP, will be lucky if I get 3 of them done. I might even consider baiting, or rather getting ready to bait, in one spot. I don't normally bait at all until december, but I want to get my little 15 year old sidekick into a deer, and I might want to video it.

I'm drawing a blank at the moment but I'll think a little harder.....
I'll be hanging some stands this weekend also...well, actually move a couple and hang 2 new ones. Make a couple repairs on a rifle shack, clean up the trailer, fill propane tanks, check the foodplots. Yeah the weekend is full of work....:dizzy:

Club Whitetail Down is kinda growing on me. Just found some state land last night that is planted with a couple hundred acres of soybeans. The area looks promising and is littered with sign. My experience with farmland is limited. I found a couple transition areas. There is a hedgerow/tree line along a narrow drainage ditch bordering a large area of marsh and thick brush that seems to get alot of traffic one both sides funneling together about 70 yrds before entering the beans. Anyone have any suggestions. There are no shortage of stand locations. I dont see alot of human traffic. Do you think I should hunt the feild or stay on the funnel. I'm leaning towards the funnel. Ive got two stands left to hang.

^^I'd stick a stand on the funnel for bow, keep em close.
Yesterday I hung a ladder stand and was putting chains on it and 2 does walked 30yards away, I wasn't being quiet either....dummies. I havent seen any rubs or horn this year:yikes: last year by this time I had already saw 5pt,10pt,spike.
Team C.W.D. works for me

I saw a brute last night leaving work.....I'm talking a 140 class. Unfortunatley he was not in an area that can be hunted. Exactly how he got that big I'm sure..... A buddy owns 17acres about a mile south of the sighting along the same river so maybe he will get lucky. i might have to try a few sits in late October on his property...maybe he will show himself. It s a river bottom so a mile isn't very far!!!

I was leaning towards the funnel myself. Ive already got a tree picked out. That ditch is more of a small creek. I didnt check things out real thoroughly because I wasnt entirely sure where property lines were. But ive done my reserch now and will be exploring more thoroughly this weekend. I was mostly just dumbfounded that that much stateland was being farmed. Looks to be 200-300 acres of beans all state land surrounded by almost perfect deer habitat. I just dont know how much pressure the seasons gonna bring.
The logo looks good. It may have to be sized down a little. I know there is a size limit, just not exactly sure what that limit is.

That sounds great...I like the name!
Wish I could buy some more doe tags right now....I have to wait until the 17th to buy them for my property. I did get one through the draw and picked up one for Saginaw county. I need one more for Arenac where my property is and then I'll be set.

Sorry I didn't chime in. But That was a top three name for me from that list anyhow. I like it. I get a little sick of all the bad attitude names, I like the humorous ones. Well done. The decal thing looks good too, I think i will sport one this year. I set two stands over the weekend, and checked on a climber spot of mine. There is a little tension between the land owner and I this year it seems. His kids claim to have an interest to hunt, which is great I hope they do. He just mentioned that they can have whatever spots they want, which is also fine. They have hunted a little before, and it consisted of them walking through the alfalfa about 45 minutes before dark watching all the deer run off and basically chasing after them with thier bows, yeah didn't do any good. One of them is gearing up for the youth hunt. I am a little nervouse, had the property mostly to myself the last 5 years. If that gets ruined my early bow season is shot. But we'll see. I am going to hunt the first week as hard as I can, and hopefully let the air out of one right away. Will deliver an update later. I am going to hang two or three more stands later this week. Put the salmon rig in storage for the year, so it's hunting season officially now!
