Jus checking in. Glad to see teams posted and people chatting already! Count on me for atleast a doe this year. I'm goona start being more selective in the bucks I shoot. Primarily a meat hunter so it'll be hard to let em walk.

Well, I finally got a quick chance to check the board again. I am usually on here everyday, but have been preparing for an Elk hunt and things at work have been crazy. I am leaving for Idaho on Thurday for an archery elk hunt, and won't be back for two weeks. :D Then it's only a couple days til our season here starts. My significant other is not pleased, but I am ready to go. I have a few farms that I hunt in the Saginaw/Bay City area, and there are some nice bucks on all of them. I also drew a December archery tag for the Shiawassee Federal Preserve, and scouted a spot accessible only by boat or private property (I have access through the private land). So things are looking good, and I will drop back in as soon as I return from the elk hunt.....Go Team 8!!!

ok where are you guys hunting at?

I'm bow hunting and late gun in the thumb. Rifle in Atlanta

I bow hunt near Dansville (ingham county). I gun hunt between Houghton Lake and Lake City. My gun hunting is more about spending time at deer camp and just hangin out with the old man. So i sighned up as bow only.
When it comes to my bow hunting lease, I'm a pretty selective hunter. I decided a few years back that I would concentrate on hunting for mature bucks. I have a bunch of basket eight points on the wall, so I decided to go for something to mount. This by no means is any kind of judgment, becuase I'm thrilled for anyone who shoots a deer!

We need to work on our team name. I hope you guys are good at that sort of thing becuase it certainly isnt mine.

I agree

gun Hunting is great, but it is more of a tradition

I say our team name should be banned:) with a joking side to it

I bow hunt in Merrill (Western Saginaw County), Kawkawlin (Bay County), and Millington (Southern Tuscola County).

I entered as a "bow only", since I gun hunt up in Lovells, and the camp is more like a family reunion than a typical hunting camp. We usually have about 50-75 people in the woods on Thanksgiving day (Women and children included). It's a good time, but my best opportunity at a good buck comes frombow hunting around home.

As for team names, hmmm...I'll toss out one off the top of my head, since I won't be around for a couple weeks How about:

Bucks R' Us

Checking in Guy's. Will only be hunting the Gun season for a week in the Western UP, but we've hunted there for 45 years now so we kind of know the area. May also be down in Barry Co. over Thanksgiving. Any name is fine with me, and good luck to all you bowhunters.

I hunt in Eaton Rapids and shoot most of my guns with my bow (my choice weapon). Gun season is usually a doe or 2. Not really sure how the bow season is gonna turn out this year with all the guns going first. On a side note Yarcher if u don't mind me askin, what's that Utah hunt runnin ya? I really wanna go after an Elk but might never get the chance in MI.

I hunt on the border of Oakland and Macomb county (100 or so yards from Ishot3bucks) :D. Also have 46 acres up just north of Mio. Hoping for a great season. My freezer is EMPTY  I'll be bow hunting mostly, but do archery and gun season.

The Idaho hunt I am going on is a DIY. We have an outfitter type tent along with a kitchen tent, wood stove, etc. We are headed into some national forest that my friend has hunted before. He has been out there several times, as he has friends in the state that he hunts with. An elk tag, with all the necessary other licenses runs $550. The rest of hte expenses are gas, food, misc. With license, gas, and all, it will be under $1500 total. It would be less if we had more than two guys to split gas costs with. Should be a good time, I'll give you guys a report once I get back (hopefully with some great photos).

I'm finally going to get out tommorrow and put new straps on my tree stands and set up a couple cameras. I know, I know, Its kinda late but Ive had a ton of stuff going on. Maybe we will get a decent rain this weekend to wash away my scent.
Good luck out west Yarcher. Sounds like a blast. Only been out west one time (Wyoming) had an absolute blast! Its been way too long also.
