Just wanted to share a few steel patterns that really start working when they switch from eating eggs in the winter.

Good Day,
Dave, great work as always! Those all should just slay the steelies!
BTW - love your let go my ego too! Funny thing that... I have been working on something similar in the sense of being a "fishy" streamer. But I have been leaning toward sort of a mix minnow/leach in purple with flash. I have also been working on black over copper (great color combo on the Big Man) and more traditional minnow/small fish colors. I was out with my wife when she had to go to Field's Fabrics. I found these awesome resin beads. Just the right size and color! Have to heat up the hook though to get it around the bend. But man... they look soooooo good! if you position the bead right you can "see" into it and at a certain angle has something of a reflective quality just like a real egg. Once I have a few finished maybe I will send one or two to the shop!

Love to see 'em. Maybe have you tie some bugs for the shop, if you like production tying, that is.:yikes:

Good Day,
Production tying = slippery slope. Haha... I don't mind tying for a couple of shops, but full fledged/full time production tying would drive me batty. A couple thousand dozen flies per year, not my thing. The danger of taking a passion and making into work can kill the love for the hobby. If I come up with something viable that you want Dave then cool... Haha. Actually, you might fit into a program I am developing. I have Captain Tony Petrella (Florida and Michigan) and Ray Schmidt on board as fly testers. I am working on some fly designs that I will send to them to test. If they turn out to work well, then I can actually say, guide tested and approved before I send samples into say Orvis. So perhaps I can add you to my list.

Nice flies. Look like they would fool a fish or two!

Any lead in there, Dave?

No lead on either. Sometimes, 80lb mono on either side of the shank to help build up the abdomen of the hex. I usually put the lead on the line.
