How long is the river?

I'm pretty sure that it is 32 miles long. Not totally sure that I trust my memory though:D

I've heard anywhere from 28-32 miles. Depends on where you consider the river to end downstream. I'll bring this to Goosewa's attention, he's the riverman.

Guys,

The river is somewhere around 32 miles in length.

I can tell you that the new Detroit River International Wildlife Refuge is 18 miles in length. It starts at Mud Island located near the City of Wyandotte and extends south to Sterling State Park in Monroe County.

Depending on who you talk to the river starts just south of Celeron Island (Gibraltar, Michigan) and extends to the north to Peche Island. At least that is what myself and other river rats define as the detroit river.
