2008 MS Deer Hunting Contest Chat Thread

Ok everyone while you wait for teams to be posted I figured I might as well throw this thread up. So just use this as you trash talking, sound-off or whatever you want thread for this years contest. No talking trash from me. Don't need the extra pressure. I'll be bow huntin' hard this year. Last couple of years was Duck hunting, and very little Deer.

I head for the UP Fri for (hopefully) my first Bear. After that, it's all about the Deer hunting. I've got a couple of new places to try this year, and maybe the bait ban will keep the pressure down a little.

I can't really talk. I only started hunting last year and let all the deer I had a shot on Pass...I'm just a city boy from Portland, Oregon. :lol:

And no I am not a stinky hippie although Portland is the Mecca for them. :dizzy:

haha i cant believe it has taken me so long to find this!!! i was kind of shying away from the deer hunting forum because of all the ban bait bashing going on... gets annoying... bunch of little school girls on here bickering :lol:

i talked a lot of trash last year and backed it up pretty well... so i feel no need to change my ways....

ill be bear hunting this year so my focus is on that... after i am done chasing the bears... the deer will fear me and run and hide.... but i will find them...

to let my team now i will be gone from the 6-14th... so i wont be around.... and

I JUST GOT ENGAGED!!!! ... so if i dont get a deer this year i was obviously planning a wedding more than i was hunting...

that should give you guys enough to talk about for a while....

Going to be an interesting season. I have removed my mineral blocks and pulled my spincast feeder. My best hunting buddy (and last to leave the nest) in the world, Matthew, will be prowling around the Eastern UP in between classes at LSSU instead of applying the face paint and creeping across 300 acres of corn to get to the hedgerow. I won't be hunting with him till Thanksgiving. The money previously spent on whole kernel corn will be allotted to a distilled version (Woodford Reserve) of corn and Budweiser. Truth be told, his absence this season is the reason i joined this contest. I truly hope that whatever team i end up on has at least one individual willing to make the drive to my place (20 acres of woods surrounded by ag) to make some new memories. It is not without trepidation that I enter this season going solo.

Actually I'll give you that cause I also had a bad scouting sessions this year. Almost got poison ivy but was definetly stung by a few hornets.

For the Raffle.. For all the folks that dont know Dan, Its pretty fair to say he is an upstanding and generous man and has given alot to the folks of this site as well as folks outside of this site. Has given away hunts and always steps up to the plate when we need a home run so I dare say its time to return the favor.. I will buy a few tickets and if it so happens my name is chosen I will be donating the hunt to a child that deserves the hunt more so than I!

My best hunting buddy (and last to leave the nest) in the world, Matthew, will be prowling around the Eastern UP in between classes at LSSU instead of applying the face paint and creeping across 300 acres of corn to get to the hedgerow. I won't be hunting with him till Thanksgiving. The money previously spent on whole kernel corn will be allotted to a distilled version (Woodford Reserve) of corn and Budweiser. Truth be told, his absence this season is the reason i joined this contest. I truly hope that whatever team i end up on has at least one individual willing to make the drive to my place (20 acres of woods surrounded by ag) to make some new memories. It is not without trepidation that I enter this season going solo.

A couple maybe, but this isn't a magazine, it's a contest that requires a few simple things to show in a photo to validate the harvest.
I agree that some pics aren't flattering and I'm one of the ones guilty of a tailgate shot but it was more crucial to get the animal processed than it was to set up a photo shoot.

Well I am nervous as heck but I shouldnt be because I have nothing to hide.. just playing the waiting game now I guess... I have a good feeling about it but it was still rough... the psychological tests took 4 hours STRAIGHT... and it was from noon till 4 and afterwards i felt like i was going to puke and had the biggest headache... it was rough.. the polygraph was not easy... you are hooked up 3 different ways to a machine that feeds into the computer and gives them graphs.... so we will see... sure hope i get this job!!!

as for now i am concentrating on hunting as much as i can to keep my mind off of it... even though as i sit in my stand its constantly running though my head :lol: .... needless to say i need that 140 class or bigger buck to come by to get my mind off it for a few minutes....
