Alright guys, I'm planning on doing some mountain biking to some stands this year. I was wondering if anyone makes anything that will hold a bow atop the handlebars firmly and have no chance of falling off while riding. I saw a hunting show with a guy riding a bike that had a set-up like this but it did not show what he was using. I know I can get a strap and hold it like a back pack, but I plan on hauling a back pack and a climber already. Is there anything any of you guys have fabricated to do this? I just need some ideas. thanks

Maybe a couple of bow vises clamped on the the handle bars?

Or get a backpack such as a Badlands Superday that carries everything you mentioned.

I would think you could get the bow holders for ATV's and make them work.

I believe Steve modified his Mtn Bike for a hunting machine a couple years ago for getting into the nether regions of state forests.

I have a buddy out west that uses one but he told me he prefers a backpack for the bow instead of the Handle bar mount as it vibrates and transfers all the shock of riding to the bow though.

Thanks for the ideas guys! I am in need of a new pack, so maybe that is the route I will take. I do like the idea of the gun grip Kelly, but as you menitoned, it probably would vibrate the heck out of the bow. Any other ideas?

They make some real nice backpacks now that haul everything you can imagine

Just keep in mind that everything you take in on the bike has to come back out...and then if you get a deer you may be making two trips. I fab'd a deer hauler/trailer for my bike out of old steel tent poles and 24" bike tires. It carries a good amount of weight. All my gear goes in the trailer on the way out, if I'm blessed with a deer, everything can go back on my back or bungied back into the trailer.

I like the idea about a bicycle, which got me wondering about the legal transport of a bow. According to the hunting guide, it looks like it doesn't have to be in a case on a bike.

I think it might be worth asking a CO beforehand though. The guide mostly talks about motorized vehicles, but also mentions sailboats. The weapon must be encased whenever the boat is moving. Would a CO equate this with a bicycle and issue a ticket?
