Saturday seemed perfect for some shorecasting, prefrontal conditions, nice chop on the water. Tried all the usual spots in the afternoon, went 0/0.
Went to Harley Saturday evening. 1 Bass. Then something grabbed my Husky Jerk, and with absolutely no concern about the fact that I was pulling on it with a MH rod and 20# Fireline, it moved off under and through the DNR dock. Finally broke off on a piling. I am fairly certain it was a LARGE Cat.
Sunday seemed like a good day to kill time for casting practice. Post cold front. Winds whipping from various northerly directions, mainly northwest. Pulled out the 9' spinning rod and started working the weeds along the edges of the Clinton with a Rapala weedless spoon. Found the Bass and small- mid sized Pike feeding voraciously. Good thing they were in tight, since I could only cast 50-70' into the wind.
The more I think I know what the fish are going to do, the more I understand that I know NOTHING. When I think it's going to be good, it's not, and when I think I'll be doing nothing, the are hitting everything they see.......

Good report Esox. I'm thinking those Hawg Muskies must be starting to prowl through some of your favorite casting spots.

I know what you're saying ESOX, that's why I go whenever I have some time. I don't try to pick my days based on conditions other than trying to avoid the high wind days because you just never know. Anyway glad to hear that you found some time to get out and caught some fish to boot. I think I'll take a vacation day tomorrow and see if I can put some of those jumbo Perch in my bucket. It's supposed to blow 10 - 20 knots out of the SW so it might be rocking in the middle of the lake. I sure hope it's closer to 10 than 20. Take care and I'll post on my success or failure. John

Downrod, already picked up a few small 'Skis in those areas, I havent started tossing the big baits from shore yet, but temps are getting to where it ought to be good for a quick hour or two of entertainment from shore. I am still in shock over the regulation changes, all my favorite baits are illegal in some of the best spots this time of year (weight and hook size).
I'm usually one of those guys getting strange looks from everyone as I troll up the warmwater rivers in November.....
Good luck tomorrow John!!!

John, I always hope the winds will be at the lower end of the scale, but it never seems to work out that way.
