2002 deer hunting forecast announced
Michigan Department of Natural Resources officials today announced the 2002 statewide deer hunting prospects report is available.
The report, compiled and released annually, provides hunters a county-by-county analysis of what they can expect from the state deer herd. The figures in the report are compiled by local DNR biologists based on estimated previous winter losses, weather conditions and field observation throughout the year.
Biologists estimate that, weather permitting, hunters will take more than 500,000 deer this year during the combined hunting seasons.
