View Full Version : Why is my peep sight all of a sudden twisted?

Shot my bow yesterday, no problems.
Took it out of the case today, on the first draw back something wasn't right. I notice my peep sight is twisted to the side instead of lining up with my sight. Any ideas on what is causing this and why it happened? FYI it is a tubeless sight.
Thanks

Is it a fairly new string?

How many shots through it do you think?

Normally its due to string stretch.

Happens alot after getting your bow restrung then shooting it 50-100 shots.

The string is not new. The sight was just put on 2 weeks ago but the string is not new.

It appears that one of two things have happpened. Either the peep was installed incorrectly or your string has changed (stretch).

Yep, string stretch. Sux. Go peepless to a 2 position sight and you will never look back.

Mine will sometimes get off line if I draw and let down slow. I would shoot a few arrows and see if it comes back in line. Also, this could be an indication that something is very wrong! I remember having peep problems just before a cable broke at full draw.

Yeah I tried shooting for a little while to see it it would self correct and no luck. Guess I'll take it in tomorrow.

What kind would you recommend?

What kind would you recommend?

None if you like consistent accuracy.

How old is the string? This is an indication that the string or cable is about ready to go. It sounds as though you've had this set shot in nicely so stretch shouldn't occur. Unless you happened to leave your bow in a warm area like the trunk of a car, bed or cab of a truck.

If your string/cable is failing, chances are it's occuring under the serving...guess that doesn't narrow it down much because there's lots of serving on a bow string/cable.

Radiohead, you don't think a 2 position site is accurate? My Kingsway site (kingswayarchery.com) is amazing. No more string twist or trying to find the peep hole in low lite situations. And at 50 yards, I can hit an orange 9 out of ten times. Sometimes ten out of ten. It's all about form.

clearly caused by global warming.....sorry couldn't help myself...Shot my bow yesterday, no problems.

I asked which one you used...I have never tried one so I have no idea how accurate they are. Someone else made a comment about them being not as accurate.

Yeah I'm not sure what happened so I am just going to stop by MJC on the way home from work today and have them figure it out. Always something! I was just starting to shoot really well with my new arrows with my broadheads and now I have to get this looked at. On the bright side I'd rather it happen in August then in November!

One of us in the group I shot with go through this every year. Which is what led to me purchasing a portable press. Usually the sting only twisted a little tiny bit yet enough to make it impossible to see through the peep. So my guess would have to be twisted string.
