Hey Guys,

I just bought a set of in-line planer boards out of the classifieds section here.

My question is, when are they necessary/beneficial to use?

I will be trolling lake st. clair and the st clair river. I understand that getting the lures out to the side of the boat will help with spooky fish, but at what depth is it not that big of a deal to run right off the back of the boat?

I can see using the boards when, say, I'm in 10-15 ft of clear water out on the lake, but if fishing close to the bottom in, say, 30 ft of water, do the boards make that big of a difference?

The boards will work on windy days (2' plus waves)
Going up and down on the waves they add action to the lure

If your fishing with more then 2 rods they help spread every thing out.

I've used them on the river in 40' and in the lake in 10-20ft. Spreads out your presentations. Your covering more area.

Not sure what species your targeting but shallow water or clean water I like the boards. Stained water or deeper water, the boat rods do quite well. JMO

I use my inline boards all the time when I fish for walleye on the bay or any lake. I've used them in 6to60fow. It just lets you cover more water. I've never used them in the rivers not saying you can't just that I never have. good luck
