Hello there, I go away for a day and come back to find my post that were scattered all over consolidated into a new "Outdoor Forum". Thanks to everyone for the kind welcome comments. Let me do some explaining to start this forum.
In the past I tried to plug the news, announcements, grants, programs, and stories into the existing forums. This has worked most of the time with the sound off forum used as a catch all for everything else. I have a few sites and newspapers that I check daily for news and articles. Adjacent to my computer screen is a small TV, usually on one of the news stations or an outdoor channel. I’m a confessed news junkie.
I’m also on a couple of emails links that send me announcements or as a network of alerts and news notices. I reroute emails notices to several organizations daily. This forum is only one destination of some of my notices. I certainly do not have access to all the news sources. I therefore will need your help. Please contribute your news and notices.
I look to this forum for education. The best way for us to protect and preserve our outdoor sports heritage is to be informed. Information in a timely fashion is power. We also need to protect our natural resources so we actually have clean water and wildlife habitat to enjoy our sports with a future for the next generation. If you are informed to more of what is happening around you, then some of you may become more involved with the local political process to protect the local road ending lake access, attend the CWD meeting, or be alert to a zoning development that consumes your local hunting opportunities. Sportspersons need to become more involved as self-defense of our heritage. This is not fun and it does detract form our hunt/fish time.
There is much information that I have not been posting as I’m involved with several networks. Some sources are politically left/right or in opposition to philosophy of some members of this forum. Note that I may be posting some notices or stories not to upset anyone, but to alert to the common interest we share. For example, the Sierra Club may disagree with our idea of timber management, but I may post some of their alerts to a DEQ water quality permit that impacts our clean water for fishing or one of their land-use issues that impacts our wildlife habitat. We all need to work with our common interest in order to fight the big money special interest we cannot handle alone. You still reserve the right to ignore specific posts not of your interest.
I will not be this long winded after this first introduction. The long statements belong in the "Outdoor News Commentary Forum’. Enjoy the ‘Outdoor News’ forum and thank you for your help.
