Where is there a lake in the lower LP of Mich where I can rent a cottage for a week in July or Aug that has good fishing. I will have my own boat. Any kind of fish.
Thanks,

Hmmm, I probably should keep my mouth shut because I don't have any solid information. Just trying to be helpful though . . .
I looked around the Whitehall area early in the year for a possible summer vacation spot on White Lake. I ended up going to the bass islands in Ohio. Whitehall seemed like a good idea though. I am sure that there is good fishing both on White Lake and Lake Michigan. Muskegon is close and they have summer fest around the fourth. Should be lots to do. It didn't strike me as quite as touristy as some of the other west side ports. Something to consider.
I have a young family and Catawba Island with the Toledo Zoo nearby made more sense this year. A little closer to home for me as well.
Good luck! I am sure you will get more suggestions.

Crystal Rentals in Benzonia (231-882-4008) have cottages and homes for rent on Crystal Lake and the surounding area. Great fishing in a beautiful area.

Ray,
Since you said southern lower peninsula, you might try Big Portage Lake, also called Portage Lake, northwest of Dexter. North of North Territorial Road, east of Dexter-Pinckney Road. My parents rented a cottage there a few years ago. It is an all sports lake with good bass and panfish fishing. There are some walleye as well and probably some pike, and maybe a perch or two. Plus there is access to a nice chain of lakes if you are interested in that. Dexter is a nice little town and there are fireworks in a few nearby villages near the 4th of July. Sorry but I don't have any phone numbers for the cottages, you might try www.switchboard.com and look up real estate brokers in the Dexter area.

Fishing only, no sightseeing, golf etc. Just good fishing, walleye, pike perch, pan fish, etc.
