fished from 12:30-3:30 on friday

all fishing done by myself with only 1 rod

usually this time of year do well on crappie and gills in the boiat canals-probably a little early because of warm weather, but decided i needed some different kind of fishing

usually use just jig and slip bobber

well
lots of weeds pushed into boat canals(probably from high winds last weekend)

caught only a few on just jigs

they wanted a minnow with it and actually did quite well with a perch setup on a bobber down 2 feet

take for the day

about 30 gills
10 7" or smaller
10 8-9 incers
10 10-11 incers
3 perch-2 went 11 inches, 1-3 inches
about 7 large mouths (2 6 inchers and the rest about 10-11 inches)
and not one single crappie-only had 1 one and lost it on the way in

word
big bass and walleye tourny going out of hall lauch avoid if possible in the morning -they launch at 7-7:30

1fife, if you get the Crappie going you'll have to give me some tips. I've fished this lake for many years and I can count my Crappie catch on my fingers and toes.

John, I don't fish for crappie, but 2 years ago I was at Bass Pro and a pro was doing a seminar. He was demonstrating a small jig used under a balsam stick bobber. During his demonstration, he mentioned that he and his partner boated 300 crappies on one November day, on a LSC canal. I don't believe that this gentleman would have any reason to exaggerate, since he is just a fishing pro and not a manufacturer of this particular jig. Needless to say, I've often wondered what canal they were fishing.

well a high school buddy of mine got me into it

and guess what

he is sponsored by bass pro shop and does real well on some of the bigger bass tournies in the area. And yes he does seminars fopr them in auburn hills

we have gone out and did the crappy thing and have got 20-30 along with the other misc stuff

trying to hook up a date with him

I fished for them into thanksgiving last year-but it was a bad year-water always ditry last fall in canals(kinda like it was today),I always have mny good days on clear water. Fishing up under docks and in shadows of the boats that are left in.

and he has told me the same stories of 300 crappy days- and i do believe him. Say him today at launch when i was coming back in-he was at tourny at hall road launch

his name is john "mini' Miniaci

he is on this site from time to time, but is the monitor of lake st clair network
