Is there any way to freeze spawn so that it will stay good? How long will it last just in the fridge?
Thanks in advance

Yes...dived the spawn into portions sizes that you would use in one trip. Place those portions into small zip lock bags. Get as much air out of them as possible. Then place the smaller bags into one large one.
Cured spawn will keep in the fridge for several weeks. I leave mine in the cure so it doesn't dry out.

Many different ways to store it....ask and you will get 100 different ways. I have tried about 40 out of the 100.....
I think the best way that works for ME is actually quite simple. Take the spawn in the skien and rinse it well. Place it on paper towels and alow it to dry for about 3-5 hours. You might have to change the paper towels a few times during this process but the idea is to reduce the moisture in the spawn without drying it out to the point of no return. After a drying time, take enough for one trip and I wrap it in an fresh paper towel into a quart zip-lock, squezzing out as much air as possible and frezzing it. Make sure you mark the type and date before putting it in the freezer. The extra paper towel comes into paly when thawing due to the ice crystals that form in the freezzing process.
I have had spawn last 2 years this way but honestly I have to sort as there has been a few packages that received freezer burn that I had to toss. I tend to get 12 months is zero issues though this way.
Now this is only for tight skiens.....for loose or semi loose is a whole different ballgame. I am looking to firm up the eggs to tie sacks and that is where the Borax/surgar/cures/salt/mineral oil comes into play. Then cure it as others suggested and go from there.
Hope this helps....

When did you start this process? I have never seen any spawn come out of your freezer like you described.

I have frozen bags of spawn several times and it's worked great every time, I just devide the spawn up into small bags that will last me one trip, when you thaw them out mix them with a spawn cure such as Atlas Shake "N" Cure (this is my personal Favorite).

I Let it drain a little and I just vacuum seal it in small amounts and when I need it I thaw it out slowly, it works for me .Bud

I had a borax recipe that I can find if you would like me to? I used it, threw my egss in an old sauce jar and they lasted several years. I didnt really end up using them but a couple of times.

take the spawn and cut it into portions that you would use in a trip or in a day and roll it up in a damp towel then put in a ziplok bag and freeze works great for me.
