Appears the the Walleye and Perch hatch on Lake Erie this spring was nothing but "Disappointing".

Thanks for the heads up goosewa, that is indeed bad news.
I wonder how the other species fared as far as spawning success goes? That bites, but poor spawns are a part of nature.
If there are concerns on poor spawning success, Ohio should shut down the walleye snagging fishery on the Maumee River. The number of females loaded with eggs that come out of there is a shame. MI ought to do the same for the Detroit river in the spring. I just hate to see all the spawners getting caught given there are concerns on the health of population. If the walleyes population was thriving, then allow the spring fisheries but if not, shut down the spring fishing that targets spawners. With us having a year around fishery, I don't think it would kill us to give the walleyes 4-6 weeks to spawn unmolested.
