Thinking about getting my pops a drop away rest as an early birthday present. I'd like to get him an ultra rest like mine but can't imagine they make a compatible model. I also wonder if a rest like that might complicate things even worse- The string has broken at full draw 2 or 3 times since he got it. Any advice or possible alternatives?

Not enough info. What kind of bow? Make,Model, and Year. Why is the string breaking? Has there been any damage to the bow he is not aware of that could cause multiple strings to go? Details my friend. We need details.;)

BTW- Welcome to the boards.;)

Michihunter is right, we need details. The string should not break. I have shot drop awasy for a few years and never had any problems.. I'm guessing its way to tight. Give us the details and someone can get you taken care of.

Just hard to say if something is compatible without knowing what bow he's referring to.;)

What's breaking... a fall away activation cord or the bowstring itself? Your post is a little unclear but I'm going to assume you're refering to the bowstring. Where is it breaking? Is there damage to one of the cams that is causing it to cut the string and make it fail prematurely?

As the other posters have suggested... the answer is in the details.

I've never had a bow that has done this, nor have I seen any of my friends bows do this.....but i inspect my bow before i shoot

Sounds like he could use a new bow, not a drop away rest.

I was in a rush and must have deleted a few sentances...It's an Onieda Black Eagle(first or second year they came out). Because of the different mechanical nature of that particular bow I was wondering if there is a compatible rest for that old bow. He loves that bow and would rather shoot it than the higher end bows of today. As for the "bow string" breakage I think it has to do with not waxing the string and/ or getting brush wedged in the bottom limb. Any suggestions? Sorry for the confusion...

The man you want to talk to is MikieDay. He's our resident outboard limb bow specialist. I personally cannot give you an answer as far as compatibility goes but I would imagine if anyone can, Mikie can. Do a member search and then PM him if he doesn't see this soon.;)

You my want to look into a limbdriver by vapor trail. Attach to upper out board limb. As for the string breaking you my want to have it serviced, or call matt at c p onieda.
