Im going to Lansing for a conference Sunday, Agust 3rd, and staying to Thursday. Does anyone know of any good places to fish in the area? It doesnt really matter what species, just a spot that holds fish and is accessible from shore. Thanks in advance for any info.

South of downtown, on the Grand River, look for the 3 smoke stacks or sleepy hollow state park

Another easy place to fish is Hawk Island Park, located on Cavenaugh road, between Pennsylvania and Aurelius Roads on the south side of Lansing. It is full of small bass and bluegills, has 3 fishing piers on one side and a walkway around the pond on the other. It is less than 10 minutes from downtown. IMHO, a very pleasant place to spend a few hours. They also rent boats. The walking path around the pond is a bit over one mile.
Sleepy Hollow State Park is about 20 minutes north of town. The shoreline is extremely weedy, but there are two fishing piers. Another nice location, but with VERY limited shorefishing opportunities.
Moores Park, if the river level is at its current level, will let you walk out on a rocky point and fish for smallmouth, panfish, occasional walleye. Also along the shore downstream you can fish for carp.
The town of Dimondale is south of Lansing, a bit closer than Sleepy Hollow and has some shore access to the Grand River downstream of the bridge. Haven't fished there much, but have caught smallies there.
All of these locations can be Googled. Feel free to PM, if would like more info.
