Getting ready for vacation and picking up a few lures to try out. Anyone try this new frog?

A little pricey, but figured what the heck and bought two. I got a green one and I got a brown one (hoping to confuse a bass into a toad or mouse thing). The green one I am gonna try on open water and reserve the brown one for the lilly pads and jungle. I trimmed up the legs some on both, about an inch, and on the green one I threw on a pair of stingers for the open water set up in case of a short strike or cannot get the hooks from around the rubber and into a firm jaw set. I have a couple of green ones for tossing in pads, different make though.
Any opinions on this frog, or perhaps an idea for a new bass lure to check out? Thanx in advance.:)
ps. I got the jr. size, got alot of smallies in my lake, thought it would be a little better than the bigger one.

I've tried them and I wasn't all that impressed. Don't get me wrong they look awesome but I just couldn't get the hooks into the fish. They just seem to be too hard. Before everyone says I have to wait and then set the hook. I know. I like the scum frogs alot better. You can get the tournement series and they look good and they are weighted so you get great action.
Hope this helps.

I too prefer the scum frog. I have two sproo frogs and have never landed a fish on either.

scum frog is the way to go, I have been doing well with them the last few days . white has been killer for me which reminds me I have to go get another because I lost it on a nice fish. I acually will toss it up on shore and bring it out and catch fish in 6 inches of water, its an exciting way to fish you wil love it.

I understand I am going against the grain here but I like the SPRO frogs. I have hooked and landed lots of fish on them. I like the action they have and they cast really well on heavy braided line. My favorite color is black w/ yellow. However I will check out the Scum Frog, I see what I think of those.

i've been using the spro all summer. i love it... best frog bait out there IMHO. landed MANY fish on it. Hooks up great. Fish it slow and almost work it like you would a spook. it is snag proof and casts a mile. The paint is coming off of one of mine from too many fish. I bet i caugh 12 keepers on it a couple weeks ago... the following night i got a 3 1/2lber.
Heck.. i've caught fish on Big Pine Island on one... thats got to say something:lol:
Only tip i have is to trim the legs back an inch or so.
I have spros, they work well,I don't know if they are worth the difference in cost compared to a scumfrog for most fishing, but they seem to attract more big fish than scumfrogs. Muskie destroy them just like they do a scummer.
Use them ALL the fish dont care. Ive had good results with snagproof, and spro. Have yet to try scummers/ why bother?
Trim the legs on the Spro's back like Justin said, will help with the short hits.
When they swallow it to eat it!! not just poke at it, Ive never had a problem with hook set

I've used the scum frogs with great success but I have not tried the Spro yet. I wouldn't hesitate to try it! Just this weekend I lost two scum frogs and a tiny torpedo from big fish....clean snap at the hook set on both the scum frogs (with the frog type soft baits I set the hook with some authority) and the big fish on the torpedo immediately cut my line. I landed numerous fish though with a handfull of them being over 3.5#. All those frog baits are big fish bait!
I've never used any of the super lines but I'm about to experiment with them for this type of topwater fishing.

Another good one to check out is the SumoFrog...that's what I've always used. They've got good hooks on 'em.

Great info guys, thanx! Do you think I should leave the stingers on the frog I intend to use in open water, or take them off?

those that are having issues setting the hook with the spro frog or any frog for that matter, need to be tossing braid. i like tossing my frogs on a 7' 3" extra heavy with 50lb braid. i can chuck the frog a country mile and have the power i need to muscle a big fish out of heavy cover.
