I've been using steelforce broadheads since I started bowhunting and i was thinking of trying a new broadhead. These have been good, but out of my 4 deer that i have shot with them none have had much of a bloodtrail, even on a heart shot. Any suggestions? I heard that the montec g5's are good, but come dull out of the box, and are a pain to keep sharpened? Thanks.....

Im not sure about the G5's. But SlickTricks are my favorite head since last year. They are worth a look

Buy the G5 Tekans (new black ones). I've killed 5 deer with Tekan models the last 3 years and have been very impressed with their accuracy, durability, and penetration.

No broadhead in the world worth $30.00 a piece to this bowhunter, even with a lifetime warranty. Better come with its own tracking device. ;) Shot Thunderheads for years and was very happy until I tried the SlickTricks.

a bowhunter can spend $1,000.00 or more for their set up, but when it comes down to it its all just a way to get our real weapon ( the broadhead) to our pray. I can shoot a silver flame into a target 100+ times then thru a deer and still shave with it. 5+ deer with one head is more cost effective. other than that I would say any SHARP broadhead that can pass thru will give good blood

I've been shooting g5 Montec's for the past 3 years. They are good heads but they do need to be sharpened. I don't find it a pain because over the years I've used resharpenable heads far more than I have replaceable blades so I'm used to it. Muzzy makes a great broadhead and Slick Tricks get rave reviews anywehre but I don't have personal experience with them. My favorite BH's of all times are the old Zwickey's. I quit shooting them when I upgraded to a high speed bow and they are tricky to tune. Recently I picked up some FOB's to play with and have been amazed at the arrow flight I've gotten even with big fixed blades so I may go back. They go through deer like a hot knife through butter.

SPITFIRES!!!!!! best broadhead ever made.... just ask me ...

my slogan for them is "shoot them anywhere"... i shoot to well to find that out but i am sure that you could... these things are sharp and mean... pretty much like shooting an RPG out of your bow:lol:

oh and by the way... AMAZING BLOOD TRAILS!!!!

I've used the Montecs for the past three seasons and had good success with them. They are a good head. But I picked up a pack of the Slick Trick magnum 100's at Cabelas the other day and shot them last night. They fly great, very consistant and it stayed together with no noise during flight. I was impressed. I don't think you can go wrong with either of these broadheads. I think I'm going with the tricks this year. They are a nasty looking thing and I want to see what kind of blood trail they leave.:D

I've been using Muzzy 3 blades for 4 years now and won't go back to anything else. Even though I did not get out last year,I shot the Muzzy 125g 3 blade as well, it works for me - it might for you as well.

Something just doesn't add up. What exact broadhead did you use, and what kind of cutting diameter did it have?
What angles were the deer standing and did you get pass throughs?
I looked on the website for Steelforce and most of the heads should have yielded at least decent blood trails.
The amount of blood you see on the ground is also related to how fast the animal was moving after it was hit. In the situations where a deer bolts off full speed, stops and falls over; the blood trails can be pretty sparse.

I would love to help but there are alot of veriables. Do you shoot 250 fps or more, If no go with Thunder heads fixed blades they are sharp right out of the box and believe me you will have a blood trail. If you are pushing closer to 300 fps + the fixed blade probabley won't fly tru go with a mechanical like the spitfire, also made bye NAP if you could't tell I shoot NAP broadheads and nothing else. I've tryed rocky, satelite and a few others but since nap nothing else compares. So hope I could help but like I said their are still some veriables. Do you have your bow paper tuned, do you shoot aluminum or carbon, do you have an overdraw. This will change everything depending on your setup. Well good luck, hope I could help.
