Grass Island Perch 10-6-02

Well it's been awhile since I got out on the pond. Was going to fish the derby but from the sounds of it I would have been beat to death in my 17' Sylvan. This was my second trip in the past month and a half so I was geeked to say the least! Managed to get 42 from 7 to 10"s but decided to weed out those 7"s back in my canal. Might be able to get those in the winter when pickin's are slim. Kept 21 from 8 to 10" using shiners, single hook and a bobber in 6 fow. The wind started to howl and I ran out of minnows so it was time to head on in to port. I was fishing the north east side of the island around the weedbeds. Tried spreaders but nothing but dinks that way. Looking forward to some colder temps. and a few more nice days before pulling the boat. Last year I fished almost to the end of December, wonder if it will be the same this year.

Hey gsepan, haven't heard from you for awhile. Good job on the Perch in the Bay. The Derby was great except for the fishing part. All I got out of that was a very marginal catch and a very sore body. Keep the bay reports coming.

Nice job gsepan. Tried calling ya back yesterday, I was at the gass drages in Capac when you called. Couldn't hear a thing over all those souped up sleds. We fished hard Saturday for a small amount of fish. Fished the whole lake from mitchals bay to Metro and couldn't sit down on top of them. Conditions where the worst I've fish in a while.
