This is my biggest Rock Bass I have caught to date. Was great had the kids with me on the end of the dock. Didn't have the heart to kill him, took a few photos and weighed him, the let him go so the kids might have a chance of catching him later. 12 inches and 1.75 lbs. Gonna submit the photo and measurements and hopefully get my first MA award.

I'll bet! Pound for pound rockies hold their own against any fish. I've had nice rockies fool me into thinking I had a good smallie on, Nice fish! :fish:
As aggressive as the buggers are, you just might catch that one again.

Thats exactly what I thought hit, a big smallie. Had just tossed back a 18 inch 3lb smallie and a few other smaller ones. I was really surprised to see him on the end of my line.
I hope one of the kids catches him if he is to be caught again.
Thanx fellas.

Yeah, it would be great for one of the kids to catch that one, especially if grown even bigger...:fish:

Nice RB. I caught one of similar size when I was very young. I also caught a hook in the finger that same trip:yikes::lol:

I had one almost identical to that on the DTR last Sunday while fishing for eyes. It was a real nice fish. I thought about pic's and trying for a MA but I just put him back quickly.

Way to go!!! I had the tie for the 4th biggest in the state in '91,(yours is bigger) and even though it fried up nice, I wish I would have let it go. Way to teach the kids consevation.

Well, I just got a little something in the mail. Got a nice letter from the DNR and a patch, I also received data for the last three seasons on Catch and Release entries for the State. I don't think I am gonna get a certificate award, I was number 32 for the entries this year, but I am still pretty happy with the patch and recognition letter. Cool thing is according to their data, it was the biggest for my lake and is the biggest on the lake for the past 3 seasons. Pretty neat to see how everyone caught theirs...looks like I was one of the few who got theirs on top water. Top fish was 15.25 inches in 2008!:yikes:

Congrats, welcome to the MA club! ;)
I got a care pkg from MDNR yesterday, too. Barb musta sent a bunch out.
I started caring about keeping track & sending in the forms for MA's 3 years ago. I'm eagerly waiting to see if my flathead will hold-out for 4th this year, I've seen it drop 2 places in the last 2 weeks! :yikes:
