Please do not quote online sources, or look up definitions or anything like that.
In your mind, is shooting a crossbow archery? Please choose the two BEST answers from those provided.
Note: I am not asking if crossbows should be included in the archery season, but simply your experience and opinion.

Since the debate is about using a crossbow for hunting, not just shooting at a target, If your "experience" is limited to shooting a crossbow at a target instead of using one in an actual hunting situation, I would submit that your "experience" is only tangentially germane to the debate at hand.
Btw, polls are more likely to get accurate results if they are anonymous. ;)

Maybe someone should have an identical anonymous poll to see if the results would be any different...;)

What's the motivation behind the poll Joe? You trying to further separate hunters by having them qualify their wishes with experience? Or are you trying to prove your earlier point that someone with experience wouldn't quantify crossbows with archery? Either way it's not looking too good for your contentions. I personally see this as a weak attempt to prove a pointless point.

one thing for sure about this poll is, you won't have hardly anyone with any type of hunting experience with a crossbow from michigan. with michigans INSANE 80% DEAD PERMIT REQUIREMENTS you'll only get a handfull if that on this site. sadly too say i fall into that catergory due to a work related injury.
one could quantify that this poll is lopsided right from the get go.

Maybe someone wants to start a different debate? :D
The only way to do a cross-tab or chi-square is for the poll not to be anonymous. I tried an 8 category poll but to combine all the possibilities of experience and opinion, 3/4 of the choices were over 100 characters in length and not allowed.
There are also other advantages of the poll not being anonymous.

With a solid 70% so far being of the mind that crossbows are archery(21out of 30 and not counting Swampbuck who stated his wishes), methinks Joe is bandaging that bite in the butt he wasn't expecting.;);)

Hey Joe, maybe you should call the 50 new members of MBH. Maybe they could help you on your poll. No wait, some of them may want to hunt w/ a crossbow, but we could not plant that seed, could-we?
It's past their bed time, it will have to wait until the morning;)

Man these result look like all the other post done on this site for support of the crossbow during the archery season.
A crossbow is a bow so to me they will get the same high when the deer is harvested,

Whoop dee doo! So 23 people in a (gasp!) crossbow forum vote in support of crossbows. Not like you have an unbiased sample here...
I've got a good idea! Lets post the same poll over in the traditional forum and see what sort of results we get there :evilsmile
This being an election year I think has actually masked what sportsman really want. Face it- election year in Michigan- what politician is going to vote against a bill that they perceive to benefit sportsman? Look at the recent Meijer/HSUS issue and the campaign sportsman led to stop it. Do you really think a politician is going to want to deal with something like that?
Any other year, I don't think this bill would've ever made it off the ground.

As per the rules posted in a "sticky" at the top of the Tradional Forum threads which states "absolutely no crossbow threads" the thread has been closed, but left up there. We're just trying to be consistent in following site rules.

I didnt read the whole thing before I voted but I would have also picked the last one "I do not believe that shooting a crossbow is archery". But I do support people with a handi cap using them in archery season. Everyone else too as long as they have to cock the bow only when they have a shot at a deer! lol

Sorry, I clicked the wrong box. I have experience with all three forms of archery. I clicked no experience on any by accident.:dizzy:

Off topic remarks have been delete. If more posts don't stay on topic this thread will be closed like others have. If it is detirmined that the same people cause posts to be closed then other appropriate action may be taken against those offenders.
