Anyone know if there's any walleyes being caught at night? Between work and kids football I haven't had any fishing time. I heard of a couple late night eyes but didn't see them so who knows. Do you? Weather permiting I'll be out there Thursday night. If anyone is interested I'll let you know how I do. Go Big Reds. Tim

Tim,
Yea let me know how you do. I have been wanting to get out but works been keeping me busy. I was hoping to get out myself either friday or sat. night. I will let you know if I make it out. I did hear that they were getting a few, but I can't confirm that myself.

I'm rigged to go, just waiting for the salmon madness to taper down a bit. I also heard the gizzard shad were thick making everything slow. That report is at least a couple weeks old.

I fished Muskegon lake sat. night from about 7:00 pm until midnight with out any luck at all. The water temps are still hanging around 63-65 degrees in Muskegon lake, no sign of the fall turnover yet. I believe it will probaly be a few weeks before the fishing pick up yet. I talked to one guy at the launch that had one fish 16" long he said that was the only hit he had all night also.

Good Fishing

Thanks for the update Tim. The quiet nights have been on the mind a lot of late. Were you using rapala types? I was wondering about a glow spinner with crawler harness off the rigger along the drops this year. What are your thoughts about that? Lot's of Tim's on this thread. Tim

I was using Rapala Husky Jerks and Rattlin Rouges. I usually have my best luck on these. I use gold/black, clown, or silver/blue color patterns at night along the weed breaks or along different areas in the lake where there is a lot of humps and in the channel and outside walls. During the daylight hours if I'm fishing I usually use the rapala, and rouges in the same color patterns along with firetiger, but I fish a lot deeper using the deep diving models.
I don't know how the spinner would work at night I have never tried it. There was a guy out there jigging at night, but he wasn't having no luck with that either. I will at times cast the weed beds with those rapalas also.
Generally in the fall the walleye are looking to put on weight for the winter and get ready for there spawning runs in the spring and they usually like to feed on large baits. The bigger walleyes are known for feeding on baits 1/3 of there size so I like to keep things fairly big. Hopefully with this cooler weather we are getting know it will start to get things going out there.

Good Fishing
