State legislators scramble for compromise

By Entgegen Armburst

Associated Press Writer

Lansing, MI USA (AP) In the wake of the state House of Represantatives passing a bill that would allow crossbow into the general archery season in Michigan, Senators faced with a full blown assault from small archery groups claiming to represent the majority of Michigan's archers are scrambling for a compromise. With Michigan being one of the most turmoiled states in the union right now, state Senators are very eager to work out a compromise in which they will not likely lose any support from voters.

This high profile issue has the legislature moving at an unprecidented pace and very few details have been released to date, but rumored compromises include laws that would somehow make trophies taken with horizontal archery equipment easily and visually identified so it can not be mistaken for trophies taken with vertical equipment. Suggestions varied from requiring taxidermists to dye the hide of the animal to covering antlers with permanent orange epoxy. Other suggestions rumored to be on the table include special license plates being required for crossbow hunters so any buck being paraded through town could be identified as one harvested by easier means. Proponents of the novelty plates idea also claim it would make the woods safer by letting vertical hunters know where crossbow hunters are hunting. This allows them to keep away farther since crossbows can shoot up to 1/2 mile and crossbow hunters are more likely to shoot at noises in the brush.

Senators are looking for more public input from individuals to go along with the ideas they have so far from archery special interest groups.

My oldest son and I were at the DMV this morning. He just completed his drivers training class and was getting his permit (graduated top of the class by the way. The wife and I are just so proud!). Anyway, while I was there I also picked up the scarlet letter crossbow license plate for my pickup. Even though $8 from each plate goes directly to the crossgun manufacturers I still felt it was worth it. A man's gotta show his support where he can.

I just spoke with Hester Prynne at the main Secretary of State office in Lansing and she stated that they have manufactured over 750,000 speciality licence plates in resposne to the anticipated public demand once full inclusion becomes law!

FYI, Hester stated that non-resident crossgun hunters will be required to, at all times, drape their vehicles with a tarp colored in "desert rose firemist" which incidentally, is the same color of all those folks who sell Mary Kaye Cosmetics paint their cars. :D

This personally is my mostest favoritest part of hunting - shooting my weapon of choice into the brush at noises. This methods greatly increases my hunting success rates! BTW, I need some more hunting partners this fall - any takers?

Do those left wingers really believe this crap?:banghead3:banghead3:banghead3:banghead3

I'm guessing they figure that would already get 100% voluntary participation.

with that color of a truck think chevy will donate one to me.
Will have to go get my plate on friday when the boy takes his driving test. wait now I need to get two plates. would not want a vertical hunter to get near my itchy finger. him hiding in the camo might look like a deer.

I heard that in order to use crossbows you had to be castrated, take large doses of estrogen AND they were considering making breast implants a prerequisite for a crossbow permit! :dizzy:

And what about the hundreds of thousands women (maybe millions) that will take up the crossbow?
