It has to go to the Senate first for a vote first and it's not for there own season, it's for full inclusion in the archery season. If it makes it before the Senate this year still remains to be seen.

yes, we are only one step closer to allowing another bow into the woods with us during the archery season. the bill will need to go to the senate and be passed before the gov. can sign it.

Now the x-bow is going to solve METH problems too...sweet LOL
Besides taking more time a traditional or compound bow would work fine... :dizzy:

LOL, yeah thats the ticket give the 13 year old girl a crossbow and maybe she would leave the meth alone eh? LOL that is the parents fault..... Crossbows should be left for the disabled, Everyone wants the crossbow season must have problems being able to get deer close enough to pull a compound or traditional bow back when the deer is to close, A crossbow is a gun that shoots arrows, end of story the weapon is cocked and ready to go. I honestly do not know what people think sometimes, Any dork can do that!

Is that the same as any idiot can pull the trigger on a gun? Maybe we shouldn't allow .300 mag or 7mm or any long range rifle because thee deer are to far away, if you are a "real" hunter you let them get in "bow" range"
What ever its called choice and every hunter should have it

Huting is hunting, although I think a crossbow takes alot of the skill out of archery hunting (almost all of it).
It possible we should have a week long season durning the December hunt? The more interest to keep people hunting and to gather new hunters the better. As for that 13 year old girl, if she wants to hunt and pull back a bow, she will do it, Crossbow would be just an easy way out!
If Bow hunting was so easy, everyone would do it. I take pride in the fact that shooting an animal with a bow takes so much time, patience and skill vs firearms!

Tell my wife that she choose not to hunt during the bow season.
her doc will not let her pull her compound back due tearing of a muscle. she does not fit into the disable rule so it is not a choice for her

A few years back I fractured my left arm doctor told me I wouldn't be hunting.....It hurt like a SOB but I worked it out and enjoyed another bowseason..
Honestly that sucks for your wife..I'm sorry....I hope its better by Oct..
If her problem results in full disability maybe someone in the x-bow forum can help
good argument for a change in disable requirements...Not full inclusion

any change in the disablity rule will still leave someone out.
The only way we can assure everyone the freedom we have is to end the restriction.
If that allows a few gun only hunter to come over and enjoy the woods in october with me than I am all for it.
The part of this i still can not understand is why a fellow sportsman would be so selfish that they can not share the woods with another sportsman.
If your worried on state land about the added hunter, you need to remember they have every right to be in the woods. But than again you probabbly complain about the smallgame hunter in the woods. We do not own the woods so we must learn to share the woods. If any of us missed that growing up maybe we all should go back to preschool and learn the value of sharing.

You Assume you know me
:lol:maybe we should just allow firearms from Oct-Jan..I would hate to be selfish and leave some-one out..IMO that's problem with some people, they just expect things to be handed to them...

I don't share the woods in Oct.?
Small game, turkey, muzzleloader, and extended doe seasons all run during the "archery" deer season, the only deer season not shared by any other "recreational opportunity" is the regular firearm season.
I have no problem sharing the woods with other hunter's that are participating within the rules. I got a real problem with able-bodied people that will participate only if they get another weapon to use.

If your aren't physically capable then IMO your disable...isn't that what the dis in front of the able means?
But I think I know where you are going..My bad throw, in old age (65+) even though there are plenty of seniors out there that still bow hunt..

Of course you didn't say that. But I'm assuming that you feel that because there are plenty of women that are capable and that some kids are capable that you feel all should be capable through that 'work thing' as you so aptly put it.:D:D Am I wrong in that assumption? And if not should there be a minimum requirement that would include those that aren't physically capable (unfortunately the words incapable and disabled are not interchangeable under the current guidelines).

Torn muscle will not get you a disabilty. But it can make pulling a bow a real hard thing to do. yes my wife owns a bow and would love to hunt with it. But is it worth seeing her in pain everytime she shoots it? There is a bow out on the market she could use but selfish hunters are keeping her from enjoying it during the ARCHERY season. She shoots the gun alot. atleast once a week she is out back shooting. Same would go for the crossbow of shooting all year. Where is this being lazy? I know plenty of bow hunters that will not pull the bow out untill a week before the season, but most think this is oka, for the shot a compound. I believe it is wrong with any weapon.
If I could all hunters would be required to go to the range 4 times a year to be certified to hunt. And just like drug testing it would be at random. Bet alot of bow hunters and rifle hunters would fail the test.
If a person puts in the time it should not matter what weapon they use, just let them hunt.
The crossbow is not going to end the ARCHERY season. All the basics of hunting are still needed. Deer must be within 40 yards. still must watch movement to bring the crossbow up for a shot. Sent must be control.
Sound so much like what we do during the current Archery season.
So what I want to know, is why your so against the crossbow, and not because it is an easier weapon. My compound is easier to take afield and shot than a crossbow.

Not so, swamp.... you are able to use a compound bow during firearm season if you so CHOOSE. How about coyote? or trapping? ARe those not recreational opportunities? It's ALL about sharing.

Like I said, sorry about your wife's torn muscle..I hope its healed up by Oct..
tomay-toe...to ma toe...an x-bow isn't a bow..the law is keep'n her from hunting not selfish hunters... :dizzy:
I would love it if hunters had to pass a shooting proficiency test before they could purchase a license..and it wouldn't be by random either..But I highly doubt that will ever happen..
I dont like hunters who pull the weapon out a week before the season starts either..So now we are going increase the number of these hunters with a crossbow..SWEET:dizzy:
Which brings us to part of my problem with the crossbow..The mentality of many MI hunters..and I'm not talking about the small % of hunters on MS..I'm talking about the hunters out there who have never typed a word on a hunting forum or even know what a forum is..
So now the meat hunter down the road who doesn't eat horns, but for some reason only shoots bucks, hunting over his truck size bait pile who is limited to hunting for two weeks can now extend their season for 2.5 more months.. Do I even need to add that once their tags are filled they have plenty of non-hunting family members who some how fill their tags..
Change the disability requirements, age limits, need of a Dr note, whatever but IMO until MI gets a clue on management I'm against full inclusion..

Managment start with one person and works it ways down from that point.
If you feel like only taking 4year old buck a a few does than that is good for you. But to many time I hear a person preach his rear off to than see a small buck in the garage, and many of them that yell for this big buck will not shoot a doe. The weapon will never change that.
the only person that can make that change is you.
Bait has been the way many state land hunter hunt. Well after sevral years of tagging out on state land I have shown a group of hunter that bait does effect the hunt, for they might get one deer a year, and myself without bait was seeing deer every day and would tag out each year.
But even with that I am still not against baiting, I say let them hunt the way they want, and I will hunt my way. The same goes for the crossbow. You will not see a large increase in hunters by allowing crossbows

First you generalize and paint the picture that firearm hunters are slobs and criminals (re: truck size bait piles, using more tags than allowed, etc). By extension you are implying that bowhunters are not. That's a pretty huge generalization and one that may or may not be true. Illegal shooters of game are criminals and by trying to keep a weapon out to limit what you perceive will increase that illegal activity is a bit much, dontcha think?

Just know what I see in my area...
There are plenty of so called slob bowhunters...I was talking about adding more to the mix..
Yes I assume the only reason they do it during firearm season is because the weapon is legal to use at that time...
I left out the part about hunting from the second story of a vacant rental over that bait pile...
