well fishing was slow. caught three small perch and 1 gobbie fishing right from shore with my eigh year old son. best part was watching him look for rocks in the water and realizing you don't get enough good times like these withg your children. now i see why my old an took me and my broither fishing and hunting. the eal joy is just watching kids be kids. maybe next time the fish will be bigger if nt the joy of watching my bo is enough for me!!!!!!!!!!!!

I posted a response to your other thread, but my suggestions: throw on some waders to get out a bit further...that extra 30 or 40 feet does make a difference. Fish the hour before dark to around 11pm (or as late as you wanna)...just cast twisters, do a 5 to 10 count, and reel 'em in. Been doing this around Marysville since the late 70's (brother still lives there and fishes every couple nights this way).

I've never really fished the river from shore, but putting waders on a 8 year old boy in that river might not be a good idea. I'm sure the older Turkey would be alright but the little gobbler might have a problem.:)......Bob B.

Yeah understand...safety first obviously. I was responding more to the question in general about shore fishing, not so much to taking a child along. However contrary to popular belief, there are "slack" water areas on the river, where wading is not an issue. One area is the "beach" area just south of the Marysville launch...very wadeable, and decent for twister casting. But ya gotta get out to reach the dropoff. Don't know how big "junior" is...use your head obviously.

It was slow pretty much everywhere last night from what I could tell.
