Well, we formulated the plan Saturday afternoon. But I should back up some. Wife was having a garage sale til 1pm on Saturday, so it made it difficult to get my fishing stuff out. Really hadn't planned on going Saturday anyway because of the weather so it wasn't a big deal. My fishing buddy and I went over to Miller's for a few new plugs and then to Meijer to look for a new pan for the turkey fryer to fry fish in. Couldn't find what I wanted so I bought a new electric unit. Being about 2pm, it made sense to give the new unit a try so we had to buy some Drake's and another coating and some peanut oil. By then the wife had most everything cleaned up enough (and was gone), so we fired up the fryer in the garage where the beer is kept and you probably know the rest of the story. Anyway we decided to drink beer a while, go to bed early and get back up at 2am for some whipping. About light we'd switch to harnesses if need be to fill our limit. We stuck to the plan and came up dry whipping (missed one lonely fish) and caught one pulling harnesses. We switched to jigging and was getting nibbles, but by then I was ready to come in. Can't say it was a wasted morning on the river, but it sure would be nice to catch some fish. After we gorged on Saturday, I'm down to 3 packages in the freezer... Not good!

Holy Pork Butts Batman! I'm surprised I couldn't smell that baby from my house! I'm on vacation the week after the 4th and plan to find a new smoker myself. I have a Brinkman charcoal style now but it's hard to get and keep the right temp. Anyway let's hookup during that week sometime and go fishin. I need to start stack'in em the freezer like you! Course I could just eat the other white meat... pork butts! Ah crap I just dripped spit all over my key board look'in at that thing!

Getoutside I picked it up at Gander mountain in Port Huron, I took the day off friday and went and got it because I am always tired of the smaller smokers never enough room, so I bought the biggest Smoke Hollow smoker they make.. I will be filling it up next time I smoke with ribs and another butt and who knows what else maybe a chicken or two.. Larry all my meat comes from Zimmermans best dam meat around but I figured you already new that:lol:since you live over in that direction..

Stkbow I am off the week after the 4th as well so if you want to go be ready because I plan on stacking them walleye up when I am off and it will be at night so put in your vampire teeth and lets do it.. If you want to get a smoker check out the Smoke hollow gas smokers, the big one not the smaller one.. Check meijers in Marysville first you may find a better deal then I did, I got mine for $270 after $30.00 off if you open a Gander mountain charge card, so as soon as I get the card and the bill pay it off and canel the card:lol:, I wish they would just mark them down in the first palce..

You know what it is Kev, I normally fish my butt off and catch enough fish for everyone and there brother and not alot of time for much else.. I always wanted to smoke food well and with help from my dad and Spanky and Riva from this website I think I am starting to be a good smoker:lol:.. It takes some baby sitting to smoke food, it took 8 hours on sunday to smoke that butt, but well worth it, next time that smoker will be full of meats.. Kev I do have some left and if you can happen to come up this way some time next week I will bring some on the boat while we are whipping.. Right now I have two party's one on the 4th at my buddy's house on the lake to watch the fire works and another one on the 5th at another buddy's house so what ever night you want to go other then them two let me know.. Here is a couple better pictures, when it was nice and new last friday:lol: incase you all did not know, you have to season the smoker by paint brushing some kind of oil inside the smoker, I used peanut oil and then running it at med or high for two hours with wood in it and then it seasoned for you and your ready to smoke.. Well, I just stoped down at the ramp and most guys are not doing to good on the fish two whippers had none and one handliner had one "But" I talked to one guy that said he had 8 last night but they did not turn on to 1am in the morning so I am going to have improve on my handlining.. I know I know, I did not feel like going out last night and being tired at work today.. I have caught limits of fish handlining, but there is a diffrence between guys that do it and guys that are great at it, thats why I need you to come school me one day and tell me what you think of my performance with handlining and my boat control and then maybe if you think I am doing fine I will have more confidence with it.. Because if this year is any indication for years to come your going to have to be really good to get them to go and I dont wanna have to travel to the bay or Erie to catch fish..

As I have stated before I can run bouncers, jig and whip the best of them but my handlining could use some work because that was my least favorite thing to do, but may become my new favorite thing to do:lol: if that what it takes, Oh by the way I change my line for whipping to high vis green iron silk and it catches fish no problemo;) and it's soft to the touch LOL.. Wait a minute, I thought Augres was a potato dish that went with the pulled pork. What the heck is going on here? Now your talkin about fishing with potatos? How's that work? Oh well if it catches fish I guess I'll give it a try!

Yessir.....

Potatoe fishing this weekend. Then rig the boat for chrome and hit one of the northern Erie ports next weekend. Life is Good!!!
