Hey folks, todays BBQ reward is a 10.6 lb ribeye roast! Thats right prime rib.

The price was right a under 6 bucks a lb. I wish I could have afforded the whole roast, it was 18 lbs, but my tight ass wouldn't allow it. I had my butcher chop her where i wanted, and took her home, proud as a new poppa!

Here she is, just about time for some seasoning.

Now you just know this is gonna be good. Sorry if your on a diet....NOT!:D

Her she is with her seasoning, and 2 hr room temp warm up!

her she is with about an hour in the pit, she is accompanied by a load of wicked baked beans, and 4 spuds in foil.
Small load today due to other thigs to do early in the day, man these short smokes feel like cheating!

I will get a couple pics when I take her off, and then maybe when I put the knife to her! Just came in from tossin another log in the smoker, red oak and cherry today, man it smells good out there.;)

Looks good Spanky, I have one question how many do you have to feed at your house? You always have a pile of food smoking:yikes:..Cya Slick

Slick, I have a wife and two boys 17 and 19. they all eat like pigs!:yikes:

LOL, not really, just an average family of lazy people! I smoke large amounts because I can. Its cheaper, and I use the same amount of firewood for 1 fatty as for 15 fatties. I have a couple chest freezers and a foodsaver, and quite a few friends who just seem to drop by on weekends around 5-6 pm, I aint sure why.;)

Half of this roast has been purchased buy a good friend, and we had my boys girlfriend over, so there is about enough left for ME to have a sandwich tomorrow! The beans we like cold too, so they will last a couple more days.

her is what she looked like after 2 1/4 hrs at 290-300 on the pit. Internal temp was 136.

I divided it for my buddy, it was very, very juicy!;)

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff55/Captspanky/primeribcutat136.jpg

sliced it up for dinner, the juice was everywhere. This roast was very good and flavorfull. I was worried that I over cooked it, but it was about as close to perfect as I have done yet!.

Hope you guys liked the pics, and if ya get a chance, try one of these on your BBQ smoker/cooker, or even a grill , cooked off to the side.

OH MAN that looks good, the Delmonico is my favorite steak. All I did yesterday was smoke some Country style ribs yesterday. My first time doing the smoking thing. I made a rub with onion powder, all spice, dried mustard, salt, grnd black pepper and sugar, then smoked them with applewood at 200-225 from 1:30 til 6pm, spraying them with apple juice along the way(I should have left them on for another hour, but hey, first timer and I was hungry as were all the neighbors that walked by during the smoke process:D)

I used my weber silver genesis 3 burner (using only the front burner on low had to prop the lid open 1/4" to maintain the 225 temps), and some aluminum drip pans to hold the apple chips. I ended up taking a torch to the chips to get the stuff to burn(smoke) i got to tell you, I'm eating some cold for lunch right now and its' awsome.
