I'm posting this thread in hopes that some of us might be a bit bored fishing @ the same old spots or just might want to meet some new friends. We live in a freshwater wonderland and have thousands of anglers that can share a wealth of info so why don't we get a group together for a whole day and night of cattin. I'm not sayin just the fellas now, the lil lady and kids too. I myself am stuck in spots that are elbow to elbow most of the time and am ready to do some drivin to hit up some nice cats. :fish2: A cookout, maybe some horseshoes and alot of fishin sounds great to me! What could be cheaper than that and what a way to spend some fine family time together, meet local Michiganders and create new friendships. If anyone is interested then leave a reply and some ideas. If all goes well then we should be able to come up with a plan within 3-4 weeks time. Heck! I've got a good 20ibs of catfish fillets in the freezer to get a small start on the cookout and can have much more by the time this rolls around. I also have a portable coleman stove that can be used to deepfry them fillets.
So what does eveybody think? I know work may cause some issues but we are talkin about 3-4 weeks from now. (time enough to come up with some good excuses for you weekend worriors on the job)
I myself would like to check out the grand river. It is the largest river in our fine state and has many places to fish from what i hear.
BRING ON THE REPLIES......I'M WAITING IMPATIENTLY!!!LOL!:woohoo1::yeahthat::D

I would be interested as well. It would need to be within a 1 hour drive of Clinton Township. Its been a couple years since I caught a carp or a catfish so I would happy with either.

Halloway Resivour has a lot of cats.
Holloway has a lot of cats that think they are walleyes when you pull harnesses.....but hell, I'm down, I'm sure I can use one of my bass reels for cats.

I've never tried it before, so sounds like an opportunity to me! Maybe one of you can school me on the cats? I even have a cat fish rod that I used for salmon a couple of times. :chillin:

I would be interested in this little shin-dig. I will drive to wherever to fish with you fine folks. Just throwin one out there, but I have pulled tons of nice channel cats out of the Au Gres river mouth. But I know they get lot of nice ones out of the Grand, maybe even a flathead or two. Keep us updated.

Alright everyone! I've been super busy the last two weeks since I landed a new job and what not but I've been doin some legwork on a cattin gathering also. I'm going to try to reply to everyones post right now.
I've got a guy that lives in charlotte,MI. who has commited and agreed to let all who want to attend this gathering to pitch a tent or camper on his property. We're talkin food, fun and fishing out of the grand river.
So far we are shooting for august 2nd or august 9th, wich would be a saturday. I am a member on a website called the B.O.C., or catfish1.com, and I've got a few folks from there doing the same thing.
Anyone interested and want's to check it out can go to, www.catfish1.com (http://www.catfish1.com) and go to the local michigan talk forum. You have to sign up to post and all that stuff but it will give ya'll an idea of what I have been workin on.
I am willing to fish anywhere as long as it's not the holloway res. I do 90% of my fishing from there and am tired of all the fuss and frenzy from the many anglers that go there.
We do not have to make the grand river a set in stone idea but it sounds like a good start to me. If anyone checks out the website above, look for michiganwhitetailRLM, that would be yours truely, and look up my post called, A PERFECT TIME TO DO THIS, under the local michigan talk forum.
This gathering is going to happen no matter what so get your gear ready and plan on an entire day of fun with anglers from all over.:woohoo1:

Can anybody tell me if any of these carabiners from this company can be used for anything else besides storing my keys? http://www.liangdianup.com/carabiners_1.htm
Some of them are pretty big but what are the requirements for a beener so that it can be used for rope work / climbing?
How can I learn about the history of carabiners? And if I am searching to buy some wholesale carabiners does anyone know of any other words that would be used for carabiner? I have heard of the word crab ring or something like that but not sure if it fits. Help?
Oh yeah, if that link above does not work then here is the home page for the site www.lducompany.com (http://www.lducompany.com) I think they have them under camping or tools or something like that.

Rick probably need to set a date that will work with your brother if he wants to go.
I'm not familiar with the grand river (fishing sites, parking area, bait shops, etc.)
so I'll leave place up to someone familiar with the river
should we set up a time to start meeting? (knowing everyone wont be able to be there at exact time.)
I'm thinking shore sack lunch
(but when it comes to food) oh twist my armhttp://www.catfish1.com/forums/images/smilies/oldforumsmilies/0a14.gif
just my 2-cents
