I am planning on fishing for some bass on Lake Orion on Thursday. I have never been there before but heard that it is a good bass lake. What are some lures that I should use, I heard that it is a weedy lake so I was thinking spinners and texas rigged soft plastic. Is there anything else that would be good to use during this time of the year.

Thanks,
JLengemann

JLendemann, I fished a small bass tournement on Lake Orion June 14th. That is a good bass lake but gets alot of pressure both fishing, and watercraft. Fish early if you can. The best baits for that tourney were finesse baits. Soft plastics fished wieghtless will produce. Good luck!

I have fished that lake about 6 times this year. 5 before the formentioned tournament and once after. the firs 5 times was great bass fishing. my biggest one was a 19" 6lb LM. I went there about 4-5 days after that tournament, and there was nothing. so hopefully it is picking back up again.

Went today, got there about 6 and fished until 11. Saw a ton of blue gill and caught one bass. It looks like it would be a great lake but man, wished that I caught more but it beats working. Thanks for the info guys.

I have fished that lake before a couple times. It is a tough lake to fish due to boat traffic mostly. If you can get back into the canals, I have seen some huge bass hanging out back there later in the summer, but the people that live on that lake can be difficult sometimes to deal with when fishing the canals!

A 19 inch 6 pounder. I've seen bass that look like footballs....That one must have looked like a medicine ball.

I was drift fishing with a crawler harness over 29ft of water for walleye back in May; Landed a 5 pound Large mouth bass.

hey crappie do you fish walleye out there often? i've tried it once this year with no luck. my brother said one of his teachers brought in like 20lbs of walleye from there. my father stays right by the village launch if you could pm some info that would be great. or maybe get together and fish it i have a 16 ft open bow. thanks, Bob

Sorry for the delayed response. My account was under matainance. To answer your question, I don't fish the lake very often. But from what I understand from the local bait shop owner; the walleye fishing is really good early spring.

:yeahthat: Fished that lake a lot back in the mid-80's with a friend, and we fished the docks and canals and did well, but even then the boat traffic made it tough. I have to imagine it's ten times worse now?
