I will be getting in contact with each one of them to let them know I support this bill. It is a nice change to see a bill moving threw the chains of command, rather than being stalled out. This is what I ask for from my senator and I see the results I was looking for:D.

What's the guess on a time line for a vote?

What's the guess on a time line for a vote?

The senate recesses for the summer after tomorrow's session. Earliest possible point it could receive consideration in committee would be September.

That is correct; The Michigan Senate adjourns tomorrow for summer recess. The next scheduled session is September 9-11.

That stated, it is still very important for you to email each committee member listed below, as well as you own Senator, voicing your support for HB5741 H2, a bill that will allow for full inclusion of crossbows during any season where other archery equipment is permitted.

If you say "yes' to expanded hunter opportunity and, you say "yes" to choice, send an email... right now!

Thanks.

I don't have a clue as to why I happened to open this thread this morning, other than I've heard about the possibility of using a crossbow in Michigan and it interested me. I hunt quite a bit with both the bow and gun. My bow hunting started out with a recurve and is currently with a compound.
I'm one of those guys that have always had the opinion that: IT SHOULDN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHAT TYPE OF ARCHERY EQUIPMENT ONE USES TO HARVEST A DEER DURING THE ARCHERY SEASON.
I've never really understood why hunters, trappers and houndsmen themselves cause each other so many problems. Traditionalists vs compound vs crossbow. Same with the muzzleloaders, flint vs cap vs inline, trapping vs hound. What difference should it make which one that I use? I pay for my right to harvest and the State sets the limit to my harvests. Another is why can't I have two tip ups and a jigging rod? I have a limit on the numbers of fish I can harvest.
I have a neice (great niece or what ever:)) that would just dearly love to hunt deer with archery equipment. Her problem is that she can't pull back a recurve or compound because of her size. She's 16 yrs old and doesn't weigh 98 lbs. soaking wet. Very tiny. If she could use a crossbow, she could use two hands to set it. She's so tiny that she uses a 410 to hunt during the firearm season, and yes, she's made her first harvest;).
So......... long drawn out story but I printed out the email address of each of the Senators and I will write in support of HB5741 H2.

Encore,

The reason that you "happened" to stumble upon this thread this morning can probably be attributed to one of the following factors:

1. Dumb luck

2. Fate

3. Divine Intervention

All things considered, I would like to believe that the latter two played the predominate role surrounding this event! ;)

I'm sitting here, listening to the NBA draft on the TV, drinking a beer and just spit it all over. Thanks for the laugh.

butter,

There's a little button on your TV next to the on/off switch. It's called the "brightness control". If you turn it clockwise a few turns, you can even watch "watch" the NBA Draft and listen to it at the same time.
