JW,
I didn't have my gear with me, but one day I scouted out the park below the dam on the Huron near/on Geddes Road in Ann Arbor. As far as shore fishing is concerned, it looked like it might be a good place to drift some night crawlers or cast spinners or Rapalas. I'm guessing it would be a mixed bag of rock bass, smallmouth, gills, walleye and pike. I can't remember the name of the park at the moment but it's the one on the south side of the river below the dam that's just east of I-23.

Johnny and Papa,
Gallup Park is upstream of Geddes Dam, and is a good place to shore fish for smallmouth, rock bass, bluegills and carp. Maybe even a pike thrown in if you're lucky. Lots of shoreline, maybe 2 miles or so.
The park downstream of the dam, which you mentioned Papa is good for smallies in the tail water. I saw a real nice smallmouth taken from there. I fished there once and lost a bunch of tackle, there are a lot of hangups in that area. Try using a minnow or a crawler under a large bobber, so you avoid snagging the rocks and logs.
Not sure arond Milan. Deep Lake and Round Lake are northwest of Dundee, southwest of Milan. There is some decent fishing in those lakes.

Kroppe,
Is Gallup Park the one on the north side of the river fairly close to I-23? I think I passed it while lost in Ann Arbor* with the wife a few weeks ago and I made a mental note to come back and scout it out. Does it have a launch suitable for canoes?
(*Whenever I try to find a shortcut through Ann Arbor, I get lost!)

there is a launch at gallup park - off of geddes road about a mile west of 23 - enter the park on your left hand side and the launch is right there - they also rent canoes, kayaks, and rowboats at gallup park

Papa,
Yes, Gallup Park straddles both sides of the river, and is west of US-23. The dam is east of US-23 and the park has a different name, but it is physically connected by a bike path to Gallup Park.
The boat launch there is great for smaller boats, I have launched my 14' aluminum/18hp with no problem.
