Well I finally got my 15 posts so I could show you what I found yesterday. I don't like that rule.
I did a silly post about making a vertical bow into a crossbow with a 2x4. I over engineered that. Someone has done it with a chunk of aluminum and a rod. If you pass full crossbow inclusion the disabled archers that have been forced to use a crossbow have a choice. Some of the disabled hunters might not like the idea of using a crossbow but the law change will allow some of them to go back to a vertical bow. Isn't that great news!?!?!
While looking for illustrations to prove their bow is the same as my crossbow I stumbled upon this and man does it prove me right.

I have no interest of any kind with this company or it's products. Like I said it's something I stumbled across. This device may already be approved for qualifying disabled hunters as of now. So for you hunters that are currently using a crossbow and miss your vertical bows here ya go. If MI passes the crossbow law it could definitely become an option for you or any other archer for that matter.

there is another one called the draw-loc or something like that. Same thing...just holds the bow at full draw and you hit the trigger. I would think that it would wear down the limbs and power from the bow since it's being held back for so long but that is purely opinion.

Is the technology currently accepted as an option for disabled archers? Or will you have to wait for the crossbow law to pass? Because if it is currently accepted for disabled use then why has no one posted it until now? (maybe they did I just haven't had time to read the 1000's of posts.) This device and others like it COMPLETELY ELIMINATE every argument that I have seen being used buy the anti crossbow posters trying to tell me that a crossbow isn't a bow. This is a vertical bow that can be fired from a locked position. It's a crossbow without the stock. :cheeky-sm
But if you remove the rod and the rod only it magically becomes an accepted vertical bow. If that doesn't make them realize how silly they sound then I just don't think anything will.

A vertical crossbow....
Those do exist. The jury is still out on whether or not they will be approved for hunting however.

Draw locks are allowed in Michigan by permit, the permit is diffrent than the crossbow and is only for the disable. Sevral companies make bows with a draw lock built in and a foot hold built into the bow for drawing. Not sure if crossbows are passed if the draw lock would be part of that, for Michigan consider them two diffrent items.

two different issues totally. once the crossbow is legal the draw lock issue will just go away because many of the disabled still cannot use that system. but, on the other hand the NRC may go the extra step. seeing as how they lost the war and say they're ok for everyone to use and play like the BIG HERO. hard to tell with all the politics being used and not the scientific data like they are supposed to be using.
if draw locks are made legal you watch and see how many compound bows are hanging in the trees with them on:lol: they'll make a ton of money selling them babies at $$150 a pop. then we can have another INSANE DEBATE about crosscompound wheellocks:dizzy::lol: won't that be fun:lol:

drawloc has got a set-up that hooks your bow right up to a tripod. bolts right into the stabilzer.;)
just line it up and touch the trigger. no holding needed:D

The bow above is propelled by a spring(s) not a bent limb. Most all of the xbows guys do not view this as a xbow. Like it was said it may not be considered an approved weapon for archery. It's been said one state has already denied it's use. And the people who are pushing this weapon have left doubt in a lot of peoples mind that it's more than a prototype. I don't think we'll ever see a working production model available for sale.

Look at this a hole compound bow that does not require it to be drawn in the present of game. note the foot hold for drawing it back to lock it in the full draw.

What does all this have to do with crossbows?

It is a compound bow and does not have to be drawin in front of the game just like a crossbow. So wich one would you prefer we allow in the tate of Michigan?

I would prefer neither during bow season right bow. But i support crossbows in a crossbow season.

Allready have a crossbow season it is from Octobers 1st thre January 1st.
If this was not so the disable would not be allowed to use crossbows during the archery season. What we are after at this time is to give us all the same choice of weapon we choose to use.
What does all this have to do with crossbows?
It is basically a vertical crossbow. If one held it horizontally it would be a REAL crossbow.

You bring up an excellent point.
Some on here basically say that crossbows are not archrey. But, in every state in the union that allows the physically challenged to use a crossbow it is within the archery season. They do not allow any physically challanged to use any type of firearm....archery equipment only in archery season..

The metal tube holding the string back. Have you ever seen one in person?

Thats what I was thinking it cannot be good on a bow. At least I can't imagine it would be good for one especially in extreme temps

Ok if crossbows are legal during bow season next year, will you be using one of these devises instead of your crossbow?

You are right. I don't think the regular compound limbs are designed to be held back at full draw for any extended period of time. Especially if one had it hanging in the tree in the full sun.

It is..
Personal choice.... are you against that too?
Maybe we just make you the Outdoor King and you can decide for each of us what we can hunt with?

butter21, you out smoking? it is legal for the disable with a permit to hunt with a crossbow on October 1st. THat you can take to the bank. with out out that I would be missing archery hunting with my old man. Him with his horton and myself with the XI magnum. So you see we allready have a crossbow season that runs from October 1st till January 1st. If this was not true my father could not hunt.:SHOCKED:

for all your input into this worthy cause.
I have not been able to draw a bow for the last ten years due to arthritis. I come nowhere near meeting the level of disability that the state requires for a crossbow permit.
To top it off, I had cancer this last October that took all the organs below my waist.
I still am able to trap on my own 85 acres but I have to pre-set my traps in the barn before transporting them to the field to bury. I hold these traps set with a device that keeps them from firing until they are laid in the ground.
I suppose if these anti-crossbow hunters were trappers they would want to BAN the use of trap holding devises just like they oppose devises like drawloc or crossbows that hold the string until ready to fire.
This is why NO bowhunter will ever hunt my property until I myself can, at least in someway, do the same.
Again thanks to all of you that support the use of crossbows for all.
Hopefully, I will be able to hunt my own 85 in October in the next year or two before my health keeps me from getting to the blinds altogether. ~ Dave.
