Corn would most likely not produce ears if planted that late, however beans planted that late should be green, lush, and attractive to deer around oct.1 when earlier planted beans will be yellow. Beans may or may not produce pods depending on where you are at, weather, and growing conditions.

Would it be to late to plant rr corn/soybeans around july 4th? For a foodplot, not at all. For corn try and find a RR corn with a very quick maturity time. For soybeans I tend to use a longer maturity RR bean so they stay green as long as possible.

I've planted RR soys as late as the 10th of July and got a huge crop of beans. Had plenty of rain in July and August that year. My optimal time for planting soys is late June. As gunfun mentioned, they'll still be dark green in early October and will be pounded by deer at that time, when most other soys have gone yellow.
Last year, I planted soys during a June drought, and it didn't rain for about six weeks after I planted. The plot sucked.
I HOPE to be planting soys within the next week.
I planted a bag of biomaxx last yr on the 4th and it was about 5 to 6 ft with ears , not huge but the deer were eating it
