Fowl Minded

I had the pleasure of fishing with Hollandpiper and Crowhunter this morning out of Port Sheldon. We ended up 4/6 with 3 smaller kings and one laker.
175 fow produced best for us, we had lines spread top to bottom looking for fish. The Capt. managed a few for us and the radio chatter sounded like everyone was out lookin' and no one was dialed in.
BTW, both of these gentlemen are great to fish with. Thank you to both, tight lines. Maybe again someday.....
Thanks

Chris,
Thanks for the report & compliment. . . . now you really will be invited to fish again(~:
Presentation & colors:
Small King (~4#) - 3 color core & glow bloody nose @ ~150 FOW
Small Laker - Wonder Bread glow on rigger down 150 ft in ~175 FOW
Small King - 300 ft copper with mixed orange & blue/green in ~175 FOW
Small King - Wire dipsey back 175 ft with blue/green dolphin (I think) in ~175 FOW
Lost fish on NBK & fullcore > slap the captain
Lost fish or a release on the Laker setup from above
We marked plenty of fish around 175 FOW of water and trolled north & south between 2 waypoints. A few fish were caught in 60 FOW & 110 FOW, but it sounds like we may have done better than most.
Side, but important note: I spent the afternoon salvaging out an Olds my 17 year old son totaled yesterday. He had my 12 year old daughter & 2 year old granddaughter in the car. A freak accident and all are OK. After seeing the car this afternoon, they could have easily been killed. The kids were on the drivers side & granddaughter in the middle in her car seat - she actually slept through the collision. The car was hit on the passenger side and caved in ~2 feet. I say all of this for 2 reasons:
1. Be thankful for your family & friends, and pray for their safety daily.
2. Cherish the important things in life, which are not materials items.
I laid in bed last night thinking about how grossly wrong I would have handled this a few years ago. I do thank God daily for my family and the friends I have and are making from this site.

I was out there also in the am. It was absolutely beautiful out and I managed my quota NBK and some "crappy" green spoon with an wiggle eye glued to it.. that will go out every time for a while now did the job. 1st one 165 fow. The other 2 came out of a blast while trolling in 86 fow. I've never seen my screen light up with fish or had a triple, what a rush. I managed two out of the triple hook up.
I also never seen this before so tell me what you think. Admist the 86 fow of water action a silver fish (looked like a king 5-10lb) came out of the water thrashing about for what must have been a good 10 seconds........ I went to the location hoping to find one with a dipsey rig hanging from its mouth;)and nothing... do they surface feed like that?
Anyway, great day on the water.

I have seen this before mainly in northern lake huron. The fish are trying to throw a lamprey that is attached to them. Sometimes they are successful and sometimes not. Have seen the lamprey fly a few feet in the air after a salmon has rolled on the surface. Be happy we don't have as many lamprey around the west michigan area like they do up in Norhtern Huron. Usually about 1/2 of the fish we catch either have a lamprey or scars from a lamprey. Had one a few years ago that had a lamprey that was 2' long and 6 scars to boot.

Some times they will do that to get rid of a Lamprey.
I have seen Steelhead chasing bait on the surface before.
